GET THE LOOK: KEIRA KNIGHTLEY

Who doesn’t love Keira Knightley and her always evolutionary style? From ultra-feminine to awesomely androgynous… her wardrobe is always chic.  She recently announced her pregnancy, so I took a look back at some of my favorite fashions that she’s worn this past year, including her most recent red carpet choice at the 2015 Golden Globes.

I am predicting we’ll see her continue a lady-like look with tons of waistline interest and A-Line silhouettes. Both are especially flattering with a bump! Cinching with a tie or belt at the empire line above your bump can really slim at the smallest part on your torso. A-Line and flared shapes on skirts and babydoll dresses are also perfect silhouettes to balance out a growing bump.

Keira sticks to classic neutral colors like black, white and nudes; then she adds in shots of soft colors. She chooses cuts that work for her with interesting details like ruffles, lace and embroidery to highlight her neck or hemline. Her style secret seems to be choosing classic, yet modern looks, which I love because it works so well for her. I think we’ll see her continue to wear lots of flare and A-Line shapes, belted dresses and soft details as she goes further along in her pregnancy. Take a cue from Keira and try femme-fashion while you’re expecting. – Olivia

GOLDEN GLOBES 2015 STYLE

Old Hollywood glamour, metallic and white all night! Those were some of my favorite trends from the red carpet at the 2015 Golden Globes. It’s always fun predicting what will be trending for the night and as always there are some hits and misses! All eyes were on every celebrity mom and mom-to-be!

Rosamund Pike, from Gone Girl fame, scored in a stunning white gown just 5 weeks after welcoming her baby girl. Keira Knightly took a fashion risk in a feminine custom Chanel [maternity] gown that apparently took 30 people to make! Whether you swooned over the dress or not, I have to say I admire her for staying true to her ultra-femme gamine appeal in the ruffled piece.

Chrissy Teigan, while not a mama (yet), was another of my faves in Zuhair Murad. She chose a beautiful soft pink, while so many others went even lighter in white or silver metallic, making it a trend that’s here to stay for spring. Julianne Moore went totally glam in an ombre-sequin Givenchy Couture gown. Plus, did you see Naomi Watts in that yellow Gucci gown with that divine necklace? PERFECTION.

CELEBRITY MATERNITY STYLE OF 2014

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

2014 was an exciting year for expecting celebrities! Baby bumps in Hollywood were everywhere (fabulously dressed ones, may I just add!) From glamorous designer maternity gowns to cool and casual pregnancy fashion, I’m giving you a round-up of my favorite celebrity looks, including pieces from Destination Maternity!

I am in love with this monochromatic look that Vanessa Lachey wore on the December cover of Fit Pregnancy Magazine, featured in our Joes Jeans. Vanessa also rocked AG Jeans for A Pea in the Pod, creating a timeless look with a simple sweater and booties. She proved that denim is a maternity must-have! (CREDIT: Fit Pregnancy)

All eyes have been on The Duchess of Cambridge, (Kate Middleton), and her royal pregnancy style since she announced she is expecting her second child earlier this year. My favorite look of hers has been the Seraphine coat she wore during her visit to NYC. Kate’s ladylike style with minimalist accessories is always on point. (CREDIT: ok.co.uk.com)

Blake Lively’s maternity style has been the one to watch! She makes pregnancy look glamorous even in a cape and jeans. Love it! The soft yellow Gucci gown Blake wore to a charity event this fall was fabulous too! She is such a natural beauty and mama-to-be. (CREDIT: dailymail.co.uk.com & eonline)

Kourtney Kardashian’s bi-coastal style never disappoints. She makes a casual dress, plus the right accessories look polished by pairing her look with a cool-girl trench coat. (CREDIT: dailymail.co.uk)

Alicia Keys is part rocker-chic, part glam-mom. Seen out and about in AG camo-skinnies, a white shirt and a ridiculously cool hat, she stays true to her style even throughout pregnancy.

Kerry Washington creates perfect pregnancy looks. She was radiant in a custom Balenciaga gown at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards this year. The beautiful petals flattered her bump and the ivory color was a great choice for her glowing complexion. Kerry followed up the Golden Globes with a Jason Wu lilac gown for the 2014 Oscars.  Another beautiful color for her and with the soft draping, it gave her an ethereal look that was maternity gold. (CREDIT: mtv.com & dailymail.co.uk.com)

Kelly Rowland showed off her baby bump at the 2014 VMAs in a soft pink sequined gown. The feminine color, romantic up-do and dramatic jewels put her in the best dressed list for the year. Kelly also had some fun weekend looks during her pregnancy with Titan. The maternity boyfriend jeans from A Pea in the Pod, tank top and bandana showed off her fashionably fun R&B side. I loved watching Stacy Keibler style her beautiful bump in pieces from our A Pea in the Pod Collection. Here she chose a fabulous tangerine Rachel Pally maternity dress and Isabella Oliver maternity jacket, proving you can wear color when you are pregnant!

Ciara was stunning at the 2014 Grammy Awards in Emilio Pucci. The metallic gold gown hugged her bump, was an amazing shade for her, and her easy LOB hairstyle was perfection. (CREDIT: popsugar.com)

Hayden Panettiere really surprised me with her choice for the 2014 Emmy Awards, but in a really good way! The petite star chose a glamorous sequined dress with a plunging neckline from Lorena Sarbu. The daring silhouette and shimmer totally worked for her, accentuating her bump… this was a total win in my book! (CREDIT: glamour.com)

The Valentino gown Olivia Wilde wore to the 2014 Oscar Awards was one of my favorites of the year. I love an elegant black gown. The white peekaboo back was a chic surprise too! (CREDIT: eonline)

JESSICA SIMPSON MATERNITY

Jessica Simpson Maternity Jessica Simpson Maternity Jessica Simpson Maternity Jessica Simpson Maternity

As you know the Jessica Simpson Maternity Collection, available at Motherhood Maternity® and Destination Maternity®, is one of my favorites! I think Jessica’s holiday styles truly evoke her feminine sensibility as a woman and mother. She echoed this sentiment in a quote that I love, “I feel stronger than ever, and Eric’s unconditional love has been a reminder of the love I should give myself.” Loving yourself while you are pregnant is important and looking good is part of that, right?  So here’s a few looks that can get you looking and feeling pretty and feminine for the holidays.

Floaty dresses or femme floral sheaths are great maternity options for a special occasion. Or, get a similar look from a chiffon top, maternity skinny and tweed jacket, all from the Jessica Simpson Maternity Collection. It’s important not to forget the details either. With the right “foundation” like a seamless bra and lace panty, you can start off feeling comfortable and in control. All of the Jessica Simpson bras and panties are designed to offer simple, soft support for expecting and new moms. They also still provide a pretty touch.

Complete your holiday look with some daring accessories that definitely would be Jessica Simpson approved: a dramatic bracelet, cheetah clutch and a sweet heel to give you a little glam while you are expecting.  -Olivia

PAM & GELA FOR A PEA IN THE POD

Pam And GelaPam & Gela For A Pea in the Pod Maternity We’ve teamed up with Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor to offer an exclusive collection from the legendary designer duo’s Pam & Gela label. Tailored specifically for expecting moms, the five-piece collection consists of statement sweatshirts and jogger pants in a sophisticated palette of gray and black prints. Fabrics including French terry and velour make this collection both chic and cozy, perfect for your winter wardrobe and beyond. Take it from the women who designed it, “The Pam and Gela High-Low sweatshirt is not only a chic fashion staple, but a must-have item for the season! Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t look totally Cali-cool and on trend!… We wear these track pants from day into night – you can pair them with your favorite T shirt and a leather jacket for the ultimate California Cool look that’s super comfortable, but so chic.”

I’ve been a fan of their signature laid-back, luxury style that always boasts a rock & roll yet boho feel. The successful pair is the original co-founders of Juicy Couture, but actually started in maternity wear: “It’s so fun to return to our beginnings; not many people know that we started our first business with maternity jeans. We’re really excited to partner with A Pea in the Pod® this season and to offer our sexy, California cool style to women who want to keep their fashion A-game going during pregnancy!”

The pieces can be worn together or separately for a casual yet glam look, and range in price from $98 to $225. It is high-fashion, but also accessible, plus Hollywood IT girls and famous moms like Naomi Watts, Gwen Stefani, Jessica Alba and Reese Witherspoon have been spotted in these styles. Even Jennifer Lawrence loves the line! You can wear these pieces long after (or before) pregnancy. The collection is available in select A Pea in the Pod® and Destination Maternity® stores and also online at apeainthepod.com and destinationmaternity.com. The amazing creators have this final sentiment for our fans, “We’re excited to share our love of comfort and cool with you exclusively available at Pea In The Pod! Forever #pamandgela.” – Olivia

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrapped up their visit to NYC this week. All eyes were on everyone’s favorite royals, but especially Kate to see how she’d dress her regal bump. She met with Hilary Clinton, J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons, then Beyoncé and Jay Z at the Nets Game. They ended their visit to a dinner at the MET.

As always she chose elegant lady-like looks that flattered her figure and her beautiful baby bump. One of my favorite looks was the Seraphine maternity coat she wore during her first day here. She seems to be a minimalist mama when it comes to style, so her suede accessories, booties and quintessential clutch completed this simple yet statement-making look. I love how she always chooses chic and understated accessories!  Can’t wait to see more great looks from the duchess! – Olivia

November was another busy month for us here at Destination Maternity! I’m most excited about working with some of my favorite new bloggers and celebs who have announced that they are expecting! The accomplished actress, model, humanitarian and hip mom Molly Sims recently announced she is pregnant with her 2nd baby and has been showing her support for our brands wearing our styles well, especially from A Pea in the Pod!

I’ve also been working with the super stylist, digital influencer and blogger Chriselle Lim. She’s featured many of our pieces on her own blog, and has been making quite an impression in the maternity fashion world.

With a baby on board for Joo Kim, proving maternity style is accessible style seems to be her mission by sporting pieces from all of our brands, including Jessica Simpson Maternity.

Some other fabulous highlights from the month include our feature in Fit Pregnancy and Lucky Magazine. A Pea in the Pod’s leather maternity jacket was styled in Fit Pregnancy’s holiday article, while Lucky Magazine shared Rebecca Minkoff’s holiday picks from her namesake Maternity Collection available at Destination Maternity.  Look for more news updates next month! -Olivia

JESSICA SIMPSON MATERNITY

Jessica Simpson Maternity Jessica Simpson Maternity Jessica Simpson Maternity Jessica Simpson Maternity

The Jessica Simpson Maternity Collection, available at Motherhood Maternity and Destination Maternity, looks fabulous for the holiday season! Dreamy dresses, soft florals and pretty pieces create an ultra-feminine look which really appeals to all women, especially [I think] those who are expecting.  What I love about the line is that it also boasts a great assortment of everyday maternity essentials.

Right now with the colder weather the maternity puffer coat is a staple and Jessica’s version is warm and geared toward women in a soft neutral print. I think the belt really adds the perfect maternity touch and helps create a great shape. I also recommend pieces like the Secret Fit Belly® dark skinny maternity jean, maternity blazer and side-ruched tee since these are all silhouettes that can be worn throughout your whole pregnancy. You can mix and match all of these essentials for multiple outfit options in order to really get mileage out of your maternity wardrobe.

A soft and supportive bra is a must too.  The Jessica Simpson seamless nursing version is a customer favorite, since it’s so comfy and easy to use for breastfeeding. Don’t forget some classically chic accessories and a great maternity denim jacket, since these can really add some personality to your look and be worn after baby arrives as well! To see the full Jessica Simpson Maternity Collection check your local store for availability or visit us online. -Olivia

STACY KEIBLER NEW MOM STYLE

Stacy Keibler New Mom StyleStacy Keibler New Mom StyleStacy Keibler New Mom Style

In the days and months following giving birth, finding your style while getting adjusted to new mom life can be a challenge. I remember those first weeks being 100% focused on my son. That goes with the territory, but now that I’ve gone through it, I can also say that getting back to a personal routine and taking time for yourself goes a long way too.

I still remember our first trip out to lunch after I brought Greyson home. As exhausted as I was, it always made me feel better to spend a few minutes on myself. Finding that balance was hard, but worth it. I was also thankful I had my arsenal of nursing bras and Secret Fit Belly® jeans to transition with me too.

What’s great about the patented Secret Fit Belly® panel is that it grows with you throughout your pregnancy, straight through to after birth. I actually love and still wear my Secret Fit Belly® maternity jeans, because they give me added support when I fold down the panel at my waistline. That comfort is still desired after baby is born. I seriously don’t understand why women stress about getting back into their pre-pregnancy clothes. You really don’t need to!

Just take a look at Stacy Keibler who is a new mom too. I think she looks great rocking some chic transitional maternity clothes while out and about with her daughter Ava Grace a few weeks ago. I love that she’s working classic basics into her new mom wardrobe. The denim maternity jacket, Secret Fit Belly® maternity jean and a chic scarf are cool pieces that give endless outfit options! -Olivia
