The faux fur vest is a blogger favorite and a super chic addition to a maternity wardrobe for the winter! I love that you can style it so many different ways: pair with your maternity skinny jeans, maternity sweater and even a belt it for loads of style. Obviously it’s a great layering piece that keeps you cozy and warm… but the best part is that it can easily be taken off without jeopardizing your look. I know many mamas-in-the-making get warm easily when they are pregnant! Wear it this weekend when you are celebrating the start of the holiday season- and of course, Happy Thanksgiving to you all! Here’s to hoping you all are enjoying delicious meals with your families. xoxo- Olivia

This year the holidays really crept up on me! I’ve been so busy with writing the blog, attending events and spending time with my husband and son that I somehow lost a whole week! Talk about total mommy-brain. I honestly thought there was an extra weekend before Thanksgiving and that I would get everything on my do-list completed. But then I was reminded by my brother-in-law who texted me last week talking about our plans for Thanksgiving dinner. Life is just speeding by! I promptly reevaluated my schedule and luckily got back on course. This means holiday shopping moves to the top of my list, because I always get started the weekend after Thanksgiving- hello Black Friday!
If you know any moms-to-be or need some help giving others ideas of what to get you, here’s a quick snapshot of some of my favorite holiday pieces (look for a full gift-guide for moms-to-be later this week.) A fun novel maternity sweater, Secret Fit Belly® jeans, diaper bags and special gifts for baby can make for the perfect present or a quick pick up this weekend (and for all season long.)
We have an exciting holiday assortment at Destination Maternity PLUS some really appealing offers. You need to check out our store giveaway. There is nothing more sweet than receiving a FREE Simple Sugars Scrub with purchase! I hope you enjoy spending time with your loved ones this weekend AND are able to get started on your holiday shopping list. Best wishes to you and good luck! -Olivia

Novel skinny maternity jeans and maternity pants are hot for the holidays! Coated jeans, animal prints, leather and lacey looks are keeping skinnies fresh and fun for the season. The trick to getting this look right is to keep the pant silhouette simple, pair it with a monochromatic top or sweater, and keep accessories down to a minimal. In other words… make the pant the signature piece in your look.
If you are opting for a print, try a maternity bottom in a bi-color or neutral pattern that comes in a smaller scale. The pair featured by Rebecca Minkoff Maternity and Pam and Gela for A Pea in the Pod (they created Juicy Couture!) are great options. And to get a luxe leather look opt for DL1961’s coated maternity jeans. Pair those with a chunky sweater, maybe a bootie and you have a great holiday look. -Olivia

‘Tis the season to bundle up! Here in the North East a cold chill has definitely descended upon us and winter coats have been calling. I even visited Georgia two weeks ago for our new Destination Maternity store opening at the Avalon Mall and it was freezing! Winter is one of my favorite seasons for fashion though because layering up is a must, giving even more reason to add stylish pieces to an outfit. Our Destination Maternity outerwear, this season in particular, is designed to do more than just keep you warm. Coats and jackets make a real style statement. During these cold months, they are the item that everyone has the chance to see!
Investing in a maternity coat will give you a great fit throughout your entire pregnancy, since our outerwear is made with your growing bump in mind. With drawstring waistlines, essential seaming, and elastic insets, you can get a great fit over your bump as well as in your shoulders and sleeves. Opting to size up in a non-maternity coat can leave you with a larger fit throughout your body, which doesn’t accommodate your bump and ends up not looking cute at all. They are not flattering and too slouchy in my opinion. A maternity coat is a good investment that is made for pregnancy. Plus, a cute maternity puffer or parka can complete a look.
Some of my favorites are our printed Jessica Simpson Maternity belted puffer, A Pea in the Pod wool plaid coat and Wendy Bellissimo Maternity parka. We have a great selection of maternity jackets in stores and online so check them all out. -Olivia

I am an accessory lover! I am constantly looking to add the latest it-items and jewelry pieces into my style cache! This obsession really took its hold on me when I was pregnant, because a fun accessory truly completes a mom-to-be look. One of the things I am currently craving is anything shiny and gold for the holidays! Check out one of my latest posts featuring gold in home decor (link to nurseries to crave). Metal embellishments, chunky gold jewelry and matte gold nail polish are my go-to accents for this party season. I suggest wearing gold with black basics, maybe a novel sweater, and a pop of red for a stand-out yet sophisticated look.
Butter London’s nail lacquers are a great way to introduce a pop of color or to get a metallic finish. Did you know that Butter London’s polishes are carcinogen and formaldehyde free? It’s a product line that is perfect for expecting and new moms. I love that the nail foundation keeps your nails smooth and chip-free too! The signature lotion and hand balm by Butter London are extremely useful for moms on the go (like me!) I always keep the hydrating hand balm in my diaper bag. -Olivia

Checks and buffalo plaids are everywhere right now! I love them in maternity wear, especially since they camouflage the bump, making them super flattering. They definitely add a cool edge to a maternity outfit. Plaids totally give any accessory a fresh new focus during these cooler months. Jackets, bags, booties and even umbrellas make great gifts that tie in the trend. And the plaid shirt and menswear inspired coat are two maternity essentials this season. We have a lot of options at Destination Maternity so check us out online and in-stores – Olivia

I excitedly bring you part two of my video series with Lucky Magazine and Style Expert Jackie Miranne. In this clip we show you how to get two different holiday maternity looks that are both polished and bump friendly! Whether you are having dinner with family or visiting friends during the holidays, finding the right balance between not-too-casual and not-too-dressy can be tricky. I love the tuxedo jacket with novel skinny jeans and I hope that you’ll love working these pieces into your own maternity style this season. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, ready to kick off the holiday season. There are so many festive occasions that come with it! If you are expecting, then this season is even more special and dressing up is more fun for two! Both our Destination Maternity brands: Motherhood Maternity and A Pea in the Pod, offer something stylish for every mama-to-be.
This holiday is all about sparkle, shine and ultra-feminine silhouettes. And it isn’t just about the dress this season either! Separates and two-piece styles are great fashion alternatives to a dress. Special items like the statement maternity sweater and novel skinny jean can be just as glamorous as a cocktail dress. Lace touches and tuxedos are the pregnancy fashion yin and yang (I love that we mix both in our holiday collection!) For full lines visit us in stores or online at DestinationMaternity.com. Happy Holidays & Happy Shopping! -Olivia
