Star Style for the 4th

TrendAlert-July4thI’m not your typical matchy-matchy mama, but I do love to show my holiday spirt by dressing for a festive weekend. I’m seeing star motifs everywhere this summer and since they are a chic nod to Independence Day, I think they are completely apropos. We usually watch fireworks on the 4th in Philadelphia or at the Jersey shore after attending a BBQ or two, so it’s easy for me to work in some stars and stripes. Here’s a little outfit inspo for your own holiday weekend, including a look for your mini! What are your plans for the 4th? -Olivia

Summer Vacation Essentials For Mom-to-Be!

Vacation Essentials BLOG

I’m planning my yearly beach vacation to Wildwood Crest, New Jersey this week (I’ll be posting our trip later this summer)! I always look forward to spending time with my family and we pack in tons of fun activities, so pre-planning my wardrobe is a must! Beach outings, boardwalk games and a seafood date night means lots of outfit options but since I hate over-packing, I choose versatile pieces I can mix and match! Here’s my vacation picks for mom-to-be that are just that: beachy and chic with tons of style mileage for different occasions. Let me know what you think!

Summer Guide to Dressing Your Bump + Beating the Heat!

I hope you are all enjoying the day celebrating Father’s Day with the men in your life! Did you know today is also summer solstice? The summer season can be both a blessing and a curse for the mom-to-be! The warmer weather lends itself to breezy dresses and open-toe sandals, BUT with the rising temperatures, beating the heat can also be challenging! I was in my last trimester during the summer of 2013 and not only was my bump at its biggest, but I had a terrible case of edema. I lived in lightweight jersey maternity essentials and lots of layering pieces. Shorts, breezy skirts and maxi dresses were my go-to and for good reason: they were uber comfortable and easy to accessorize! Read on for some of my favorite looks that will keep you looking great and feeling cool this summer.Shot_05_0313THE MAXI: A jersey maxi dress is the perfect summer maternity essential. It’s lightweight and versatile enough to be styled up or down. Throw on a linen jacket and slides to create a totally chic weekend look. While having a few fun maxis in your wardrobe is smart, I always suggest adding at least one version that is in a simple silhouette and neutral color. Grey, navy or black can be worn so many ways and will give you tons of style mileage this summer.Shot_20_1477THE SOFT SHORT: Another warm weather must-have! Go with a classic jean short but also invest in a soft cotton short; just keep in mind the fabric should be lightweight and even have a little stretch. A short can always be paired with a tee or opt for a peasant top. Add a heel or espadrille for a more polished look. The combination is perfect for a summer party or even date night. Shot_08_0462THE KNIT SKIRT: How great is this updated maxi skirt? With a chic side slit (that’s not too high,) you have an effortless look that does double duty depending on how you accessorize. With a metallic wedge, simple stripe dolman tee and fedora, you have a city-chic look perfect for a summer night. Style TIP: For a leg lengthening look, opt for a side-ruched tee that contours to your bump. For an easier more bohemian take, pair a maxi skirt with a fitted tank and unbuttoned shirt.hjfghTHE SUMMER SHEATH: Wondering what to wear to the office this summer? The sheath dress is a fabulous option and can be worn from desk to dinner. PLUS, a great black and white graphic print seamlessly transitions into fall by updating your accessories and adding a blazer.

Chic This Weekend // The Flare

Flares are the hottest denim silhouette for summer! A nod to the 70’s, flares look totally refreshing in a sea of skinnies. You can go completely retro by pairing a flare with a caftan, tortoise shade and platform wedges. If you need a summer maternity denim update, I would definitely suggest adding a little flare to your wardrobe. As always, I would love to hear how you would style this jean! –Olivia

Trend Alert // White Haute Mama

TrendAlert-WHITEWhite is having a major fashion moment this summer. White is classic yet modern, whether a sleek silhouette or added as an accessory. A white maternity dress and jean are essentials for the season and both are versatile enough to be styled up or down. I also love clean white accessories to freshen up a summer look. Mixing white and blue denim staples you already have in your closet such as a short, boyfriend jean or jacket is also a summer must. Happy styling! -Olivia

Mommy Must-Have: The Honest CarryAll Satchel

liv liv2The Honest Company_2015-05-11_13-53-53Did you know that we now carry The Honest Carryall Satchel? As a mom who is always on the go, having to switch back and forth between a handbag, work tote and a diaper bag throughout the week was a huge source of frustration for me… that is until I test drove the Satchel last week. With convenient pockets on the outside for easy and quick access to the essentials like my keys, wallet and my son Grey’s snacks, and tons of hidden storage inside, it’s been so much easier to stay organized. Because it looks great, too, and features gold hardware, my go-to accent color, I’ve been using it for work and weekends. I love it so much I plan to use it even after Grey is out of diapers! –Olivia

Swimsuits You’ll Want to Wear all Summer!

Swim suit shopping is in full swing now that summer is truly approaching! I have already begun my quest for a new suit and have helped several preggonistas at my last few style sessions!

Tankinis are universally flattering for moms-to-be and my favorite this season is an embossed version from A Pea in the Pod! The side ruching and plunging neckline keeps the suit fun and flirty not frumpy!

A bright solid color, stripe or even a print keeps a tankini or one piece suit looking fresh and modern. Fun accessories like a caftan cover-up, straw tote, floppy hat, cute sandal and poolside clutch always take a look to the next level! I know it always gives me an extra boost of confidence, so I highly suggest accessorizing before heading to the pool! -Olivia

Chic this Week // The Perfect Summer Maternity Dress

AFKJGHOIUFGHJACCESSORIES

I am a huge fan of the tee-shirt dress. A simple knit dress is key in any Spring and Summer wardrobe but I especially loved it when I was pregnant since it was cute AND comfortable. If you are a mom-to-be and have the rest of the summer ahead of you, you definitely need a few tee shirt dresses in your arsenal! They are extremely versatile, too, especially this Splendid version! You can go for a totally casual look, pairing it with a summer slide and tote for a beach day, or opt for city chic, with strappy slides, tortoise shell shades, a panama hat and a simple clutch. Great Memorial Day BBQ option too! Hope you are enjoying the long weekend! -Olivia
