Florals are fresh for fall and add warmth to winter style. Look for abstract flower patterns with a color palette that works for your personality, and the maternity basics you already own. Since florals are a fashion staple, they’ll live on into a new season, which I love. Deep blooms work well at camouflaging and flattering the bump. Another trick to keep in mind when styling a floral is pairing this feminine print with something edgier, like a dark legging or destructed jean. It balances out the sweetness of the print and makes for a cooler maternity look. Happy styling -Olivia

Statement maternity sweaters are hot for the cool months ahead. Luxe embellishments, chunky cables and fun graphic prints (like lips, stars and hearts) take maternity sweaters to the next level. I love that you can dress up a fun sweater with heels and leather leggings or go completely downtown chic with destructed denim and booties. I always invest in statement pieces every season, since they’re fun to build outfits with, and they become a reflection of my own personality.
I think maternity basics are a necessary foundation in any woman’s pregnancy wardrobe. With that said, I also believe that investing in stand-out pieces make your style more personalized. Like their name suggests, they make a statement! You’ll get mileage out of a great maternity sweater too, since they’re designed with the bump in mind, look great layered AND will look just as cute later, sans baby bump. You know I’m all about reinventing my favorite pieces each season! And, you can too. -Olivia

In the days and months following giving birth, finding your style while getting adjusted to new mom life can be a challenge. I remember those first weeks being 100% focused on my son. That goes with the territory, but now that I’ve gone through it, I can also say that getting back to a personal routine and taking time for yourself goes a long way too.
I still remember our first trip out to lunch after I brought Greyson home. As exhausted as I was, it always made me feel better to spend a few minutes on myself. Finding that balance was hard, but worth it. I was also thankful I had my arsenal of nursing bras and Secret Fit Belly® jeans to transition with me too.
What’s great about the patented Secret Fit Belly® panel is that it grows with you throughout your pregnancy, straight through to after birth. I actually love and still wear my Secret Fit Belly® maternity jeans, because they give me added support when I fold down the panel at my waistline. That comfort is still desired after baby is born. I seriously don’t understand why women stress about getting back into their pre-pregnancy clothes. You really don’t need to!
Just take a look at Stacy Keibler who is a new mom too. I think she looks great rocking some chic transitional maternity clothes while out and about with her daughter Ava Grace a few weeks ago. I love that she’s working classic basics into her new mom wardrobe. The denim maternity jacket, Secret Fit Belly® maternity jean and a chic scarf are cool pieces that give endless outfit options! -Olivia

Rebecca Minkoff has been a favorite designer of mine for some time, and I’m excited that we at Destination Maternity have collaborated with her on a new maternity collection, exclusive to A Pea in the Pod and launching this week.
Rebecca is a mother herself and actually worked on this line during her second pregnancy this past year, so she definitely had maternity style on the mind! That’s what is great about this specific collaboration. Rebecca Minkoff is admired by celebrities, but now our customers have the chance to fall in love with true pregnancy fashion. Her globally recognized brand is accessible to you and I love proving that pregnant women do not need to lose their sense of style when they’re expecting!
This maternity collection brings Rebecca’s edgy, yet chic style sensibility to our brand, which I believe fits nicely amongst our other featured designers. Some of my favorite stands outs from the collection are the soft printed maternity pant, modern maternity camisole and fuchsia silk maternity dress. What’s great about these pieces and the complete assortment is how versatile they are. I always say it, I know, but for me being a busy working mom, having that ability to mix and match pieces to create different looks is crucial! Rebecca’s ready-to-wear options make getting dressed easy (and fun) to do. -Olivia

Seraphine is a fabulous line we carry as part of our Destination Maternity collection. The classic yet feminine pieces have become a favorite of mine! When I was pregnant I lived in chic knit maternity dresses, especially ones that I could style different ways. The “desk to dinner” versatility was extremely important to me, since I was (and still am) always on the go. What I love about the Seraphine line is that it’s a maternity collection with elegant appeal. The soft draping and no fuss prints will never really go out of style; plus, they work well to flatter the bump. Since the silhouettes are so forgiving, they are also great transitional pieces for after baby is born. The Seraphine Collection has a royal look to it, much like when you see the Duchess’ fashion choices. She always portrays regal grace in fitted dresses, crisp lines and clean looks. She knows how to accessorize without overdoing it, always choosing simple clutches and ladylike heels. Like Seraphine, her noble style is timeless. –Olivia

Finally fall has arrived and the weather is cooling down. My go to for this season is a little dress and jacket. Popping on a jacket or blazer over a maternity dress is a hot look for these cool months. And bonus… it’s also a great way to get extra mileage out of your summer dresses. Proportion is key though, so make sure to look for maternity jackets and blazers that are designed with your new figure in mind. The jacket should hit just under your bump with a knee length dress and even longer if you are wearing a midi or maxi. This ensures you get a long and lean maternity look. Plus, this style takes you flawlessly from desk to dinner!

Some of my favorite bloggers and fashion influencers have recently announced their pregnancies these past few months. Bloggers like Samantha Wennerstrom of Could I Have That, Jennifer Rand of BelledeCouture and Irina Bond of Bond Girl Glam prove that your style certainly does not have to waiver while you are expecting.
What I love about each of these fashionistas is how they’ve been able to maintain their own personal sense of style during their transition into motherhood. Sam takes modern and minimal dressing to a new level with her clean lined looks and her sophisticated, chic accessories. Jennifer has a more classic feminine appeal with the way she accessorizes, always looking fresh and fun in pops of color. Irina is a true femme fatale who isn’t afraid to take fashion risks like pairing a wide brimmed hat with her casual downtown look.
It’s really no surprise that their maternity style is influencing other expecting women; who wouldn’t want to take a cue from these stylish moms-to-be? If you take a look at their fashion repertoire you’ll find each lady rocks the perfect maternity jean. Designer denim is key in my closet as well as for so many other women I know, so it’s no shock that all of these bloggers are choosing to wear their favorite designer maternity jeans now that they are pregnant.
At Destination Maternity we work with brands like AG Jeans, Hudson, DL1961, and 7 for All Mankind to bring the latest denim silhouettes and washes to expecting women. With the patented Secret Fit Belly® featured on many of the brands’ jeans, comfort with support and style are accessible. I still wear my designer Secret Fit Belly® jeans. So take a note from these well- dressed women who are sporting their favorite designer duds and stay true to you, during your pregnancy and beyond

When I became pregnant with my son it became super important for me to watch what I put into and onto my body. Things I had never even considered before, like harsh chemicals and certain anti-aging products, were now all off limits. I began looking for products that were carcinogen, paraben, phthalate and formaldehyde free. My beauty routine didn’t change much, but the products I used did. In fact, I still continue to use most of them.
I highly suggest being aware of what is in the beauty products you use, especially when you’re pregnant in order to make smarter decisions for you and your baby. The products I recommend are all some of my favorites because they are more natural, gentle and effective.
Brands like Naturopathica, Burt’s Bees and Mustela not only give great results, but are perfect for sensitive skin that expecting and new moms may begin to get. Another important factor for me was and still is protecting not only my own, but also my son’s skin. During pregnancy and even now, we use sunscreen every day and when I’m looking for a little glow I go to Naturals St. Tropez Self Tanner.

One of the hottest pattern trends of the season is animal prints! From leopard, to cheetah, to snake and zebra, anything goes for fall! In maternity, animal prints can look chic and work best for the bump. Whether in neutral colors or placed layouts, they work great to camouflage, further flattering your new figure. Even a small touch of animal print in a belt or scarf can bring freshness to your mom-to-be look. -Olivia
