Guest Editor: Rachel Zoe, Stylist, Editor and Designer
Whether it’s a parents-only weekend trip to Positano or a family excursion to The Hamptons, Rachel Zoe travels in style and clearly knows how to pack. She shared her list of vacation essentials for the mom-to-be with us exclusively so keep reading!
For me, summer is synonymous with the beach – Malibu, The Hamptons, St. Barths. Some of my favorite memories are from the Hamptons with my family; we go to local farm stands for organic produce. My husband and I like to dine at Tutto Il Giorno in Sag Harbor and The Palm in East Hampton. Plus, we have evening bonfires with friends on the most beautiful beaches. It’s a home away from home for us and I love watching my boys grow up there. I pack all my must-haves when traveling, but easy styles were my go-to when pregnant. So, here are some of my vacation essentials for a mom-to-be:High to Low Maternity Dress: When it comes to personal style, everything has to have an effortless glamour about it. I always want to be comfortable…never wearing anything too fitted, so I can move around with my kids. I think that’s why every woman, pregnant or not, should have a dress like the printed high-low maternity dress from my A Pea in the Pod summer collection. It needs nothing more than a pair of ankle-wrap flat sandals, sunnies for daytime and a little denim jacket for a warm summer night.
Ruched Maternity Maxi Dress: It’s no secret that every woman needs a little black dress in her wardrobe. Whether you prefer mini, midi or maxi, embrace your bump and show off your figure in a dress that is ruched at the waist. With its open neck and tassel detail, this dress is effortlessly elegant all on its own. Complete your ensemble for the perfect date night by adding a pair of block-heeled sandals and leather biker jacket.
Secret Fit Belly Zip Maternity Jeans: Stretch indigo denim is timeless and transitions seamlessly from season to season. Being a mom means juggling a million and one things at once, so versatility is key. For everyday casual cool, pair them with flat loafers, a white tee and a tailored blazer; they are the perfect accessories for daytime around town. For a bit of bohemian glamour, opt for an airy tunic, long pendant necklace and metallic sandals to give your otherwise casual denim a punch of free-spirited edge.

I am excited to announce that actress, designer and soon-to-be mother of two Jaime King is appearing in A Pea in the Pod’s Fall campaign! If you follow Jaime on Instagram, you’ve gotten a glimpse at her life which includes her adorable son James Knight, many exciting projects including a baby line, and some seriously stylish fashion—definitely a mom we can’t get enough of!
Jaime may have been the model, but it was the very animated James Knight who stole the show when he, along with Jaime’s husband Kyle, made a surprise visit to the set. The shoot, which took place at a studio in Los Angeles, features Jaime wearing styles from a new collection of jeans, Luxe Essentials Denim (LED) by A Pea in the Pod.Designed for maximum comfort for the mom-to-be, LED jeans utilize upgraded premium denim with industry recognized stretch technology to better accommodate her changing body- comfort and style! The collection offers go-to leg silhouettes like a skinny, legging and boyfriend in a range of washes, with several styles available in petite, so she can find the perfect fit.You can try on a pair of LED in stores in August or shop the pre-sale now. -Olivia

I am a huge fan of the tee-shirt dress. A simple knit dress is key in any Spring and Summer wardrobe but I especially loved it when I was pregnant since it was cute AND comfortable. If you are a mom-to-be and have the rest of the summer ahead of you, you definitely need a few tee shirt dresses in your arsenal! They are extremely versatile, too, especially this Splendid version! You can go for a totally casual look, pairing it with a summer slide and tote for a beach day, or opt for city chic, with strappy slides, tortoise shell shades, a panama hat and a simple clutch. Great Memorial Day BBQ option too! Hope you are enjoying the long weekend! -Olivia

Last weekend, we celebrated our exclusive collection with style maven Rachel Zoe by throwing shopping celebrations in select A Pea in the Pod and Destination Maternity stores throughout the country. While shopping, guests enjoyed macarons from Dana’s Bakery personalized with our hashtag #RachelZoexAPIP in flavors like chocolate molten and jelly doughnut- YUM! Décor included all white floral arrangements with peeled back roses and hydrangeas (Rachel’s favorites).
I had the pleasure of hosting two of the events in sunny Aventura and Coral Gables, Florida. It was so much fun to meet with clients and introduce them to the collection! I was able to advise on the best ways to style the bump while helping the expecting moms-to-be shop for their maternity essentials and wardrobe.Los Angeles-based blogger Leanne Barlow hosted the event in Beverly Hills and looked GORGEOUS in the Rachel Zoe Printed Caftan Maternity Dress.
Bloggers Nicole Gonzalez of Lillies and Leon, who also donned the caftan, and Staci Acquasanta of Leather and Leops, who rocked the Rachel Zoe Exposed Zipper Maternity Mini Dress, hosted the event in New York. Plus, DreamDry,the premier blowdry and styling salon co-founded by Rachel, held a braid bar to add even more boho-chic flair.
Don’t fret if you missed our events! The collection is available online and in stores.
Hope to see you at our future shopping events! Xoxo- Olivia

Fall is my favorite time to try new restaurants with my husband or catch up with the girls, because the weather is perfect for a stroll in the city. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to layer up a look.
Choosing a restaurant should be the hardest part, not figuring out what you’re going to wear! When I was pregnant I lived in draped dresses, so I can speak from experience that they are comfortable, versatile, flattering and still an important silhouette this fall. This style of maternity dress is my fashionista pick for a night out.
This new version from A Pea in the Pod is super chic since it’s in silk and has a sweet leather collar. It’s also in a great deep green color, which isn’t that typical, which is what I really like about it. I also suggest layering a seamless maternity cami underneath to keep you smooth and supported- I lived in cami’s! Pair it with a biker jacket, leopard clutch, a nude nail and a not too high heel… bam, you have date night dressing solved!

So, we have an ongoing “sweets battle” in my house. While we try to eat mainly healthy on average, my husband and I are a bit at odds on letting my 15 month old eat sweets after meals. I’m a big ol’ softie who loves indulging Greyson with ice cream cones and cookies. However, Grey’s dad is always the voice of reason, suggesting we limit his sugar intake primarily to special occasions. When I came across this recipe I thought it would make us all happy! It’s a simple recipe that’s 100% natural AND was a hit with Grey. Just take a look at that adorable messy face! It’s also a perfect end-of-summer treat. Hope you all enjoy this Labor Day weekend! -Olivia

This summer give your skin an instant boost with a little gentle exfoliation. Light skin polishing acts as a voice telling the skin to begin a natural rebuilding process that forms collagen and elastin, the fibers that keep skin strong and flexible. Sloughing off dead skin cells jump-starts cellular turnover, pushing damage up and out for stronger, suppler skin needed for the big stretch and rebound during pregnancy. It’s the best natural trick to keeping skin resilient and healthy.
Think before you buff, because what you use does matter! At skin care line basq, we love sugar! This is one sweet treat your body will love. Salt dehydrates skin, as does caffeine, which is often found in scrubs, but they leave the skin feeling tight for the wrong reasons. Sugar is perfect! The rich natural glycolic acids in sugar help release dry, top skin to trigger turnover and damage repair. Our basq Citrus Sugar Polish is loaded with shea and jojoba butters plus omega rich grapeseed and rosehip oils.
Smooth away the dry, dull surface layer in the warmth of the shower and your skin will be ready to drink in rich omegas, vitamins and nutrients that fuel the renewal process. You’ll love how silky smooth it feels and you’ll be surprised at how healthy your skin looks! The process of an exfoliating massage in the shower can help with water retention, common during and post-pregnancy. basq’s fresh orange neroli aroma is perfectly blended for an energy boost for mind and body.
For smart skin this summer try this little exfoliation massage once or twice a week. It’s the one step you can add to your routine that is guaranteed to make an instant glow and long-term difference!
