DID YOU KNOW: The classic Kelly Bag from Hermès was actually an attempt to hide Princess Grace Kelly’s (then) private baby bump? She used the bag as a designer disguise, which was photographed, featured on the cover of Life Magazine and of course in demand by everyone! This pregnant princess of Monaco sure knew how to make a pregnancy announcement! -Olivia

Who doesn’t love Keira Knightley and her always evolutionary style? From ultra-feminine to awesomely androgynous… her wardrobe is always chic. She recently announced her pregnancy, so I took a look back at some of my favorite fashions that she’s worn this past year, including her most recent red carpet choice at the 2015 Golden Globes.
I am predicting we’ll see her continue a lady-like look with tons of waistline interest and A-Line silhouettes. Both are especially flattering with a bump! Cinching with a tie or belt at the empire line above your bump can really slim at the smallest part on your torso. A-Line and flared shapes on skirts and babydoll dresses are also perfect silhouettes to balance out a growing bump.
Keira sticks to classic neutral colors like black, white and nudes; then she adds in shots of soft colors. She chooses cuts that work for her with interesting details like ruffles, lace and embroidery to highlight her neck or hemline. Her style secret seems to be choosing classic, yet modern looks, which I love because it works so well for her. I think we’ll see her continue to wear lots of flare and A-Line shapes, belted dresses and soft details as she goes further along in her pregnancy. Take a cue from Keira and try femme-fashion while you’re expecting. – Olivia

Now that you’ve reached the third trimester, you’re in the home stretch of your pregnancy! The third trimester of pregnancy can be physically challenging so it’s important to stay as comfortable as possible with your wardrobe as you prepare for baby’s arrival! Here are our top 3 must-have maternity summer styles for the third trimester!
Whether it’s your baby shower, a day of shopping, or going out for mocktails, wearing a dress is a perfect way to flatter your bump this summer. Maxi dresses are a summer staple and look effortlessly chic without risking your comfort. Try a bright maxi like the Spaghetti Strap Twist Front Maternity Maxi Dress in white to add to your mom-to-be glow. For your baby shower, stand out in a printed dress, like our Sleeveless Shift Dress Maternity Dress in paisley print.
Getting a good night sleep is so important and can be difficult during your last trimester. Make sure to stay relaxed by choosing sleepwear in lightweight fabrics. Our Baby Love Striped Maternity Sleep Shirt is a cute and comfy way to stay cool in the humid summer nights and allows for a whole lot of baby bump room! The Racerback Nursing 2 Piece Set can be worn throughout your pregnancy and beyond and is also functional for nursing.
- Hospital Needs
Packing your bag ahead of time can help you feel prepared. A nightgown and robe set like the Bump In The Night™ Decorative Trim Nursing Nightgown And Robe is a great essential for after the baby’s arrival. Make sure to have an unlined sleep bra, such as the Jessica Simpson Racerback Nursing Sleep Bra that is both comfortable and supportive. You can shop all these looks and more in store or online at DestinationMaternity.com!

When it comes to dressing during pregnancy, comfort and style are key. By your second trimester you’ll notice that what feels right in week 10, may not fit right in week 20. As your belly grows, you’ll want styles that stretch and move with your body and for the summer months, you’ll want choices that keep you feeling light and breezy. Here are our top 3 must have summer styles for the growing mom-to-be.
- Fashion tops
It’s time to flaunt and be proud of your belly! Choose tops and blouses that fit comfortably over your bump with some room for your growing belly. Show off your bump in the season’s top trends, like a colorful maternity kimono over a slim fit maternity tshirt. Or style a beautiful maternity blouse, like our best-selling MISOKA Convertible Sleeve Button Front Maternity Blouse with a great pair of Secret Fit Belly® jeans.
- Maternity bras
If you haven’t already, now’s the time to invest in some new great maternity bras. During pregnancy, your bust size will fluctuate and the size that you wore pre-pregnancy may not be the same during your pregnancy or after your baby is born. Sleep and seamless bras are essential purchases and can be worn throughout your entire pregnancy and beyond. Our A Pea in the Pod® Unlined Nursing Sleep Bra and our Motherhood Maternity® Seamless Clip Down Nursing Bra are both soft and stretchy and offer light support. Invest in an every-day bra like the Full Coverage Underwire Maternity Nursing Bra for added support.
For the days you would rather throw on a tee, we recommend the Wildfox tees at A Pea in the Pod®. This exclusive collection of tees can be worn many ways (check out our blog post on it!), including paired with the lightweight Nation LTD Jersey Knit Drawstring Maternity Lounge Pants, available in bright colors for summer.
You can shop all these looks and more in store or online at DestinationMaternity.com!

The summer grants many opportunities for outside parties & dining al fresco. People are also more apt to walk places, get some sun & explore nature. Dresses are easy outfits, because they are ready to throw on, go out & look completely put together. However, many dresses are too frilly, too restricting & actually just a little too dressy. Enter our sleeveless a-line dress, the one that will take you to that backyard party, to dinner under the stars, to a spontaneous walk to the farmer’s market on a Sunday afternoon.
This dress has a geometric print that makes people take notice without screaming, “Look at me!” The white with grey combo combines for effortless style. The spaghetti straps keep you cool & provide you with the ability to throw on a cardigan, scarf or little jacket when the sun goes down.
The length, which falls just above the knee, is the most versatile since you have the option to dress it up with heels, wedges & even platforms. But because it isn’t too short or too long, flats, sandals & flip flops give this a summery edge.
Let your hair down to frame the v-neck or throw your hair in a messy bun to showcase the back-interest keyhole design. This dress makes sure you look good coming or going.
You are constantly craving the look that works for every day & in every way. This dress is our MOST CRAVED & now your clothing crush!

Gender Reveal Parties are a sweet and special way to celebrate the arrival of your new little one to your friends and family. Are you looking for some cute ideas? How about a Gender Reveal extravaganza?! Are you planning your own celebration? Here’s what’s hot:
How about a “Waddle it Be” Party? You can have duck shaped cookies, banners, ask your guests to vote and more!
Balloons-in-a-box is another fun way to find out the sex of your baby! You can have your doctor write down the gender and bring it to your local grocery store or Party shop and ask them to put either pink or blue balloons in a box. Then, you can open the box in front of your friends and family to find out together!
On your invitations ask everyone to wear pink or blue, or provide gender specific accessories like these team pink or team blue pins. This is a fun way to get everyone as into it as you are!
Food is a great way for you to make your gender reveal party extra festive. Try these blue and pink chocolate covered strawberries. Have your doctor write down the gender and bring the envelope to your local bakery; have them seal up a box of these and then you can open them up in front of your guests!
Since you’re not sure if you’re having a baby boy or girl, why not wear a dress that represents both? You can try this strapless high-low hem maternity dress that is both blue and pink or this spaghetti strap cross back maternity dress, which comes in both blue AND pink.
Whatever you decide to do and wear, gender reveal parties are such a fun way to celebrate your little guy or girl coming into the world!
