Basq’s Citrus Sugar Body Polish Perfect for Pregnancy

We  are happy to welcome our Guest Bloggers back to our blog, the experts from Basq Skincare! Below is their first tip that explains how to achieve that great pregnancy glow:

In facial care, anti-aging begins with exfoliation but this is also true for pregnancy body care as well. Exfoliation preps the skin for better product absorption and more importantly, kick-starts your skin’s natural repair process that tends to slow down after the age of thirty.

To make sure you are smoothing skin and not damaging it; avoid salt scrubs—they are drying and can cause more damage. Additionally, loofahs and shower mitts can be too rough and lead to micro tears which harm the skin. Many everyday scrubs have clary sage, rosemary and caffeine – these also should be avoided during pregnancy.

We created Basq Citrus Sugar Body Polish for pregnancy-safe exfoliation. The natural sugars gently smooth while rich oils and butters nourish the skin. Focus on mark zones— chest, belly, thighs and hips—for best results.

When it comes to stretch marks, the BIG question is: What (if anything) works? However, the truth about stretch marks is that everyone’s skin is unique and how your skin is built is just the beginning of the story. But you can prevent marks and if you already have them, you can make them better!  All you need are the right ingredients and a smart routine.

So start early!  What you do in the first months of pregnancy is critical. Support your skin and help it build collagen and elastin so it will be prepared for the big stretch and avoid breaking (which gives you the marks). When your skin feels taut or dry—or you just have a horrible case of the itchies—give your skin some attention. Our guest posts will aim to serve as a simple guide to dramatically improve your skin’s strength and stretch-ability. Make sure to check out our products, available at Destination Maternity!
