A Gift for Baby from Your Wedding Dress

jen

Meet Jen Bowers, the Divisional Merchandise Manager for A Pea in the Pod!  A stylish mama herself, she is in charge of the team of buyers that keeps our stores filled with trendy maternity pieces for mothers-to-be!

Instead of shopping for a special occasion dress for her daughter Kendall, Jen had the sweet idea of designing something special using fabric from her wedding dress. “My wedding dress was an all-over lace Monique Lhuillier gown.  I wanted to incorporate the lace from my dress so she had a piece of me on her special day.”

With creative and design expertise from Brittany West, A Pea in the Pod’s assistant designer, they created a beautiful dress for a beautiful girl!

We love the idea of repurposing your wedding dress for baby.  You could also make a beautiful bassinet skirt, a necklace with the fabric embedded in it, or turn your wedding dress into something smaller, like a pillow.  What great hand-me-down pieces for your baby!

Inspiration Behind the Design: A Pea in the Pod’s Spring Collection

port of call

Property of Destination Maternity Corporation

A Pea in the Pod’s spring collection evokes a casual, nautical style that is perfect for warmer weather.  From chambray blues and preppy stripes to comfortable linen fabrics, the A Pea in the Pod Design Team focused on sea-inspired colors for this season’s collection:

“Our ‘Port of Call’ delivery for spring is based on sea faring islands with a soft vintage feel. The collection includes a wide array of bold stripes, crochet work, mixed media, mosaic and paisley prints paired with light wash denim. An indigo and chambray blue color story is the foundation of this group with pops of fuchsia and an increasing presence of white, which we will continue into the summer season.”

Key pieces include a flowy, 3/4 Sleeve Dress in a blue and white mosaic print, perfect for your spring baby shower. Spring’s must-have chambray convertible sleeve shirt creates a casual-chic look when paired with our Secret Fit Belly® Linen Cargo Pocket Maternity Crop Pants. Our bump-flattering Cap Sleeve Boat Neck Maternity T Shirt combined with our Secret Fit Belly® Cuffed Maternity Crop Jeans will keep you both comfortable and stylish throughout the season

Nurseries We Love: Pop of Orange

Whether acting as an accent to an otherwise neutral décor or as a compliment to a mate on the color wheel, a pop of orange adds a sunny touch of happy to any nursery. Without being too harsh – say like a fire engine red – orange brings mellow warmth to a room that’s perfect for baby.

With a base of aqua and grey, small pops of orange bring a ray of cheer!

Four Things

With the long, cold days of winter remaining in the foreseeable forecast, weekends spent indoors are much to be adored. From comforting eats and cozy knits to adding a touch of brightness and nesting away, we hope you will find the following four things as fabulous as we do.

Nurseries We Love: Nautical

This classic theme has become a modern go-to for the nursery. Traditionally displayed in a blue and white palette, touches of red, yellow and even pink breathe new life into all things nautical for your little one’s haven.

A soothing space reflects small touches of life on the water.

Showers of Happiness: Giraffes!

A touch of modern and a whole lot of whimsy, a giraffe-themed shower can be just as sophisticated as it is adorable. By mixing in cool prints such as chevron and animal print, it’s relatively easy to create a baby shower that’s one for the books.
