What to Wear in your Third Trimester: Summer Edition!

Now that you’ve reached the third trimester, you’re in the home stretch of your pregnancy! The third trimester of pregnancy can be physically challenging so it’s important to stay as comfortable as possible with your wardrobe as you prepare for baby’s arrival!  Here are our top 3 must-have maternity summer styles for the third trimester!

  1. Dresses

1 Whether it’s your baby shower, a day of shopping, or going out for mocktails, wearing a dress is a perfect way to flatter your bump this summer.  Maxi dresses are a summer staple and look effortlessly chic without risking your comfort.  Try a bright maxi like the Spaghetti Strap Twist Front Maternity Maxi Dress in white to add to your mom-to-be glow.  For your baby shower, stand out in a printed dress, like our Sleeveless Shift Dress Maternity Dress in paisley print.

  1. Sleepwear

2 Getting a good night sleep is so important and can be difficult during your last trimester.  Make sure to stay relaxed by choosing sleepwear in lightweight fabrics.  Our Baby Love Striped Maternity Sleep Shirt is a cute and comfy way to stay cool in the humid summer nights and allows for a whole lot of baby bump room! The Racerback Nursing 2 Piece Set can be worn throughout your pregnancy and beyond and is also functional for nursing.

  1. Hospital Needs

3 Packing your bag ahead of time can help you feel prepared.  A nightgown and robe set like the Bump In The Night™ Decorative Trim Nursing Nightgown And Robe is a great essential for after the baby’s arrival.  Make sure to have an unlined sleep bra, such as the Jessica Simpson Racerback Nursing Sleep Bra that is both comfortable and supportive. You can shop all these looks and more in store or online at DestinationMaternity.com!

What to Wear in your Second Trimester: Summer Edition!

When it comes to dressing during pregnancy, comfort and style are key.  By your second trimester you’ll notice that what feels right in week 10, may not fit right in week 20.  As your belly grows, you’ll want styles that stretch and move with your body and for the summer months, you’ll want choices that keep you feeling light and breezy.  Here are our top 3 must have summer styles for the growing mom-to-be.

  1. Fashion tops

2ndtrimester2

It’s time to flaunt and be proud of your belly!  Choose tops and blouses that fit comfortably over your bump with some room for your growing belly.  Show off your bump in the season’s top trends, like a colorful maternity kimono over a slim fit maternity tshirt.  Or style a beautiful maternity blouse, like our best-selling MISOKA Convertible Sleeve Button Front Maternity Blouse with a great pair of Secret Fit Belly® jeans.

  1. Maternity bras

2ndtrimester3

If you haven’t already, now’s the time to invest in some new great maternity bras. During pregnancy, your bust size will fluctuate and the size that you wore pre-pregnancy may not be the same during your pregnancy or after your baby is born. Sleep and seamless bras are essential purchases and can be worn throughout your entire pregnancy and beyond.  Our A Pea in the Pod® Unlined Nursing Sleep Bra and our Motherhood Maternity® Seamless Clip Down Nursing Bra are both soft and stretchy and offer light support.   Invest in an every-day bra like the Full Coverage Underwire Maternity Nursing Bra for added support.

  1. Loungewear

2ndtrimester1

For the days you would rather throw on a tee, we recommend the Wildfox tees at A Pea in the Pod®.  This exclusive collection of tees can be worn many ways (check out our blog post on it!), including paired with the lightweight Nation LTD Jersey Knit Drawstring Maternity Lounge Pants, available in bright colors for summer.

1. The Maxi Dress: There’s nothing I find more comfortable than a maternity maxi dress!  It’s a great functional piece for expecting moms!  Maxi Dresses are a standout trend for the season and an essential on vacation getaways for pregnant women who crave comfort and style!

2. Butter Top Coat: I love having my nails painted and Butter London’s Top Coat is a great product to help make your manicure last throughout your babymoon.  The Hardwear Top Coat By Butter London™ gives your nails a high-gloss finish and locks in your color.

3. Crop Jeans: It’s hard to find comfortable and cute jeans while you’re pregnant!  That’s why I love these Maternity crop jeans; they’re a versatile staple that can be paired with a tank top and wedges, or dressed up with a great heel and blouse for evenings.

4. Bold Printed Scarves: Printed scarves are a great way to chic up any look and can really take your outfit to the next level, while keeping you comfortable during a chilly evening.

5. Do-It-All Moisturizer: A lot of times space is hard to come by in your suitcase, so I always opt for a moisturizer that nourishes both face and body, like Face + Body Lotion By The Honest Company. It contains calming chamomile, calendula and aloe.

6. Maternity Swimsuit: A fabulous fitting swimsuit is a maternity must for expecting moms.  Choose a maternity tankini, which is an excellent choice, or standout in a fun ruffled maternity one piece!

7. Maxi Skirts: Maternity Maxi Skirts are a great way to create a long and lean look for expecting moms.  I love the combo of a maxi, tank and denim jacket for a cool and casual look.  Add some color with our Secret Fit Belly® Relaxed Maternity Skirt in Coral Print.

8. Denim Jacket: I love denim jackets!  They’re the ultimate layering piece that adds instant edge to any outfit.  This Jessica Simpson® Maternity Jacket is not only fashionable, but also a functional addition to your babymoon wardrobe.

9. Sandals: I always opt for thong sandals, because they are an easy option that will go with any summer outfit and are easy on your feet.

10. Cover-up: The Caftan is a chic cover-up choice that’s perfect for the pool or beach.  Throw it on when you’re headed out for a day in the sun, then continue to wear it while you grab late afternoon mocktails and snacks!

Describe your brand in three words.
EASY. SEXY. RELAXED.

When designing, what inspires you?
WOMEN!  I am inspired by women I know, women I meet, women I see in magazines and films.  I try to design a line that can appeal to all women, regardless of size, shape or age.

What are the three “key pieces” every mom-to-be should own?
Long black dress, Long black skirt, Maternity jeans

How would you style your favorite piece from the collection?
The striped cape top with a pair of black skinny jeans, black booties, a leather jacket and a statement necklace is casual and cute!

What celebrity mom or mom-to-be do you admire for their fashion choices?
I love how Nicole Richie dresses. She always looks so casual and yet so put together; she looks just as natural in a pair of flat sandals chasing after her little ones, as she does out on the town in sexy stilettos!

Holiday Looks for Now & Later: Part 2

Beyond the festive parties and gatherings with friends, at the heart of the Holidays is family. From Thanksgiving to Christmas Day, chances are, you will be welcoming the festive season (and the New Year) with your loved ones. While not the time for your sparkling swing mini cocktail dress, a thin, rib knit dress in a longer length and formfitting silhouette will do the trick.

Ultra stretchy and immensely comfortable, Copywriter Leigh Calarco and Online Marketing Manager Michelle Scarpato, both model this closet staple, a ¾ Sleeve Striped Maternity Dress by BCBGMAXAZRIA. From the flattering boat neck to the shape-defining stripes, it’s the perfect casual-yet-still-special holiday wear that can be easily accessorized with a pair of booties and a thin cardigan such as Michelle’s Long Sleeve Open Front Maternity Cardigan.
