Florals are fresh for fall and add warmth to winter style. Look for abstract flower patterns with a color palette that works for your personality, and the maternity basics you already own. Since florals are a fashion staple, they’ll live on into a new season, which I love. Deep blooms work well at camouflaging and flattering the bump. Another trick to keep in mind when styling a floral is pairing this feminine print with something edgier, like a dark legging or destructed jean. It balances out the sweetness of the print and makes for a cooler maternity look. Happy styling -Olivia

Statement maternity sweaters are hot for the cool months ahead. Luxe embellishments, chunky cables and fun graphic prints (like lips, stars and hearts) take maternity sweaters to the next level. I love that you can dress up a fun sweater with heels and leather leggings or go completely downtown chic with destructed denim and booties. I always invest in statement pieces every season, since they’re fun to build outfits with, and they become a reflection of my own personality.
I think maternity basics are a necessary foundation in any woman’s pregnancy wardrobe. With that said, I also believe that investing in stand-out pieces make your style more personalized. Like their name suggests, they make a statement! You’ll get mileage out of a great maternity sweater too, since they’re designed with the bump in mind, look great layered AND will look just as cute later, sans baby bump. You know I’m all about reinventing my favorite pieces each season! And, you can too. -Olivia

In the days and months following giving birth, finding your style while getting adjusted to new mom life can be a challenge. I remember those first weeks being 100% focused on my son. That goes with the territory, but now that I’ve gone through it, I can also say that getting back to a personal routine and taking time for yourself goes a long way too.
I still remember our first trip out to lunch after I brought Greyson home. As exhausted as I was, it always made me feel better to spend a few minutes on myself. Finding that balance was hard, but worth it. I was also thankful I had my arsenal of nursing bras and Secret Fit Belly® jeans to transition with me too.
What’s great about the patented Secret Fit Belly® panel is that it grows with you throughout your pregnancy, straight through to after birth. I actually love and still wear my Secret Fit Belly® maternity jeans, because they give me added support when I fold down the panel at my waistline. That comfort is still desired after baby is born. I seriously don’t understand why women stress about getting back into their pre-pregnancy clothes. You really don’t need to!
Just take a look at Stacy Keibler who is a new mom too. I think she looks great rocking some chic transitional maternity clothes while out and about with her daughter Ava Grace a few weeks ago. I love that she’s working classic basics into her new mom wardrobe. The denim maternity jacket, Secret Fit Belly® maternity jean and a chic scarf are cool pieces that give endless outfit options! -Olivia

Rebecca Minkoff has been a favorite designer of mine for some time, and I’m excited that we at Destination Maternity have collaborated with her on a new maternity collection, exclusive to A Pea in the Pod and launching this week.
Rebecca is a mother herself and actually worked on this line during her second pregnancy this past year, so she definitely had maternity style on the mind! That’s what is great about this specific collaboration. Rebecca Minkoff is admired by celebrities, but now our customers have the chance to fall in love with true pregnancy fashion. Her globally recognized brand is accessible to you and I love proving that pregnant women do not need to lose their sense of style when they’re expecting!
This maternity collection brings Rebecca’s edgy, yet chic style sensibility to our brand, which I believe fits nicely amongst our other featured designers. Some of my favorite stands outs from the collection are the soft printed maternity pant, modern maternity camisole and fuchsia silk maternity dress. What’s great about these pieces and the complete assortment is how versatile they are. I always say it, I know, but for me being a busy working mom, having that ability to mix and match pieces to create different looks is crucial! Rebecca’s ready-to-wear options make getting dressed easy (and fun) to do. -Olivia

Summer is winding down and I’m getting ready for the long Labor Day weekend ahead. I’ll probably head to the beach or pool with my boys during the day and maybe even make my way into the city too. Playing holiday weekends by ear seems to suit my family best, so I always have versatile outfits in mind when I start thinking about what to wear. Layering pieces, a great skinny and the right accessories are the key for the perfect Labor Day weekend look. -Olivia

Now that you’ve reached the third trimester, you’re in the home stretch of your pregnancy! The third trimester of pregnancy can be physically challenging so it’s important to stay as comfortable as possible with your wardrobe as you prepare for baby’s arrival! Here are our top 3 must-have maternity summer styles for the third trimester!
Whether it’s your baby shower, a day of shopping, or going out for mocktails, wearing a dress is a perfect way to flatter your bump this summer. Maxi dresses are a summer staple and look effortlessly chic without risking your comfort. Try a bright maxi like the Spaghetti Strap Twist Front Maternity Maxi Dress in white to add to your mom-to-be glow. For your baby shower, stand out in a printed dress, like our Sleeveless Shift Dress Maternity Dress in paisley print.
Getting a good night sleep is so important and can be difficult during your last trimester. Make sure to stay relaxed by choosing sleepwear in lightweight fabrics. Our Baby Love Striped Maternity Sleep Shirt is a cute and comfy way to stay cool in the humid summer nights and allows for a whole lot of baby bump room! The Racerback Nursing 2 Piece Set can be worn throughout your pregnancy and beyond and is also functional for nursing.
- Hospital Needs
Packing your bag ahead of time can help you feel prepared. A nightgown and robe set like the Bump In The Night™ Decorative Trim Nursing Nightgown And Robe is a great essential for after the baby’s arrival. Make sure to have an unlined sleep bra, such as the Jessica Simpson Racerback Nursing Sleep Bra that is both comfortable and supportive. You can shop all these looks and more in store or online at DestinationMaternity.com!

When it comes to dressing during pregnancy, comfort and style are key. By your second trimester you’ll notice that what feels right in week 10, may not fit right in week 20. As your belly grows, you’ll want styles that stretch and move with your body and for the summer months, you’ll want choices that keep you feeling light and breezy. Here are our top 3 must have summer styles for the growing mom-to-be.
- Fashion tops
It’s time to flaunt and be proud of your belly! Choose tops and blouses that fit comfortably over your bump with some room for your growing belly. Show off your bump in the season’s top trends, like a colorful maternity kimono over a slim fit maternity tshirt. Or style a beautiful maternity blouse, like our best-selling MISOKA Convertible Sleeve Button Front Maternity Blouse with a great pair of Secret Fit Belly® jeans.
- Maternity bras
If you haven’t already, now’s the time to invest in some new great maternity bras. During pregnancy, your bust size will fluctuate and the size that you wore pre-pregnancy may not be the same during your pregnancy or after your baby is born. Sleep and seamless bras are essential purchases and can be worn throughout your entire pregnancy and beyond. Our A Pea in the Pod® Unlined Nursing Sleep Bra and our Motherhood Maternity® Seamless Clip Down Nursing Bra are both soft and stretchy and offer light support. Invest in an every-day bra like the Full Coverage Underwire Maternity Nursing Bra for added support.
For the days you would rather throw on a tee, we recommend the Wildfox tees at A Pea in the Pod®. This exclusive collection of tees can be worn many ways (check out our blog post on it!), including paired with the lightweight Nation LTD Jersey Knit Drawstring Maternity Lounge Pants, available in bright colors for summer.
You can shop all these looks and more in store or online at DestinationMaternity.com!
