The clothing and accessories line, offering a relaxed, California vibe inspired by the place Wendy and her family call home, is set to launch September 2014 at Destination Maternity® and Motherhood Maternity® stores nationwide.
Wendy’s signature boho-chic aesthetic and own wardrobe staples inform the collection which is designed to offer both comfort and style for moms-to-be. The collection features everyday, easy-wearing essentials like billowy maxi-dresses, layering tops, on-trend denim with double zipper front pockets, tribal-inspired sweaters, moto jackets and scarves. The pieces can be worn together for a head-to-toe look that is fresh and fashion forward or used as accent pieces that can be layered into both mom-to-be’s maternity and existing wardrobes.
Wendy Bellissimo has defined the idea that becoming a mom is an opportunity to enhance your own sense of style, not leave it behind. Stemming from her California family lifestyle, and built upon her traditional Connecticut roots, Wendy has cultivated a look that is a balance of chic, eclectic style with a certain sense of comfort and ease. This collection, created exclusively for Destination Maternity®, is a true extension of that spirit. Wendy weighs in on her unique design aesthetic: “In all of my designs, from home décor to clothing, I find a way to incorporate relaxed, approachable style elements without over-complicating a look.”

Meet Maria D’Anza, inventor of Secret Fit Underbelly®, the breakthrough patent-pending technology that is quickly making this Momtrepreneur a household name among moms-to-be everywhere. Maria explains why she left her corporate job to follow her passion and shares her best tips for wearing her maternity bottoms that will ensure you are stylish and comfortable throughout pregnancy and beyond!
Q: How did Secret Fit Underbelly® come to be?
A: It was after the birth of my second daughter in 2008 that I decided the time was right to take a break from my career in corporate mortgages and take a chance on my idea. I believed this product would change the way women felt about themselves before, during and after pregnancy. I began to build my business around this discreet technology, which allows bottom garments to tip out and expand providing the most extreme comfort while maintaining the look of a standard waistband.
Q: At what stage/s of pregnancy can you wear bottoms with Secret Fit Underbelly®?
A: Bottoms with Secret Fit Underbelly® will fit you before, during and after your pregnancy. They are a great investment because you’ll wear them over and over and they go with everything. Plus knowing you look great during every stage of pregnancy boosts your confidence and just makes you feel good!
Q: What are some tips for wearing them?
A: You can wear Secret Fit Underbelly® bottoms any time you want to look like you are wearing regular pants but want maximum comfort. From desk to dinner to weekend wear, Destination Maternity has several styles that you can wear for any occasion. You can wear the pants with your shirt out or tucked in with a belt which makes this product truly unique!
Q: What advice would you give women who also want to pursue a business venture that perhaps diverts them from their current career path?
A: I have been career driven since high school, working after school and summers to save money for college. The road for myself and those who believe in me and my technology has been a long one, with a lot of bumps along the way; the highest highs and the lowest lows. It’s very similar to motherhood in the sense that no matter how rough one day might be, you have to pick yourself up, be thankful for another day to try your very, very best and carry on for what you believe in.
