Have you read Lisa Erspamer’s book A Letter to My Mom yet? It’s a must read and actually inspired me to write a letter to my own mom that I thought I’d share with all of you!
Motherhood is often a topic of conversation at the office as you would imagine at a maternity fashion company. We talk about raising children and it always inevitably comes up how having two under two is a challenge. That’s when I love to remind people that I am actually a twin and the doctors didn’t know you were having twins, until, well we showed up. When people ask, “How did your mother do it?” I always laugh and tell them, “You don’t know my mother.”
I’ve heard you tell people, when they ask the same of you, that you didn’t know any different; an extremely humble take on raising two children without any preparation. You rolled with the punches from the very beginning! Your love of life and confident attitude taught me to enjoy life and live in the moment. Whether it was a bad grade, a heartbreak or a lost opportunity, you were and still are my soft place to fall. You are always optimistic and remind me even today that tomorrow is another day and to always keep forging ahead. The best of friends, a wonderful wife and grandmother, I continue to learn from your example.
I will be all this for my son because you showed me how.
If you’d like to meet Lisa, head to our NYC Destination Maternity store tonight from 5-7pm to purchase a signed copy of the book, as well as my favorite picks for Mother’s Day, in case you still have some shopping to do!

It has been a busy few weeks for me with traveling for work, lots of fun events and new posts running on the blog! I was out in sunny California for not one, but two, separate photo shoots (exciting details on these coming soon.) While there, I booked some styling sessions during my visit! It was nice to get a break from the cold northeastern weather and soak in the California sun during the trip.
I also love getting to visit our associates and spend time in our stores! The team and I share such a passion for helping expecting women look and feel their best; it’s nice to collaborate, even for just a few hours. Plus, it’s great to see what’s trending in fashion in each part of the country. The Cali-girls are all about destructed denim!
I worked with clients ranging from 13 weeks pregnant to those late in their 3rd trimester. One of my clients, Flaminia, was looking for essential starter pieces that she could wear throughout her whole pregnancy. She went home with a great assortment of Secret Fit Belly® leggings, AG Maternity Jeans and a variety of A Pea in the Pod side-ruched tees.
It’s also fun to watch women find the perfect shower dress, which I helped another client do. With so many silhouettes and colors, I always ask about my clients’ preferences and start there. I love when they end up choosing something they didn’t expect, like a bright printed dress.
I can’t wait to get back to California for another visit, but check back in soon for an update on my next style session. And please reach out and email me at Olivia@destinationmaternity.com! I may be in your area to set up a time for your personal session too! -Olivia

Last week Dita Von Teese, our Destination Maternity team, and I met up at our flagship store in New York City to celebrate our collaboration with Dita on her Von Follies Maternity Lingerie Collection for new moms.
Besides admiring her sexy separates, we enjoyed sipping on “Dita-tini” mocktails, savored sweet treats and received Dita-inspired retro touch-ups by Vensette, the premier on-demand beauty service. Guests were treated to Dita’s signature cat-eye and her classic red lip.
So many people ask me about the collaboration; they wonder, why Dita? For me, it’s simple: Dita is known for her retro-inspired beauty and femininity AND THAT is something that being a new mom is truly all about. She understands fashion and how looking good goes hand in hand with feeling good. She wore a Carolina Herrera dress, Christian Louboutin (sigh) shoes and Bijoux Heart earrings. I rocked my A Pea in the Pod maternity dress, further proving how versatile it is! I’m no longer pregnant, but continue to find uses for this gorgeous style. Dita and I complimented each other on our chosen lipstick shades and got to talk about what makes new moms really glow.
So many devoted fans came to the event to meet the bombshell. A true beauty- Dita spoke to each and every guest while also signing autographs. The response to the retro-inspired maternity lingerie was overwhelming. It’s no surprise, because the pieces are not only soft and supportive, but ultra-feminine. It was an altogether great night in NYC -xoxo Olivia

1. Choosing a brightly colored dress in a simple silhouette is a fabulous choice for a night out. Keep the focus on this CHARLIE JADE Sleeveless Keyhole Maternity Dress by pairing it with a simple clutch or scarf.
2. Skinny Jeans can look fancy, fresh and fun when paired with a jacket or blazer and heels. Don’t be afraid to try a bold print like these Hudson Jeans® Secret Fit Belly® Plain Weave Denim 5 Pocket Skinny Leg Maternity Ankle Pants in Polka Dot.
