recipe

Here’s the how-to from Recipe Girl:

Yield: 3 dozen cookies

Prep Time: 30 min

Cook Time: 20 min

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup miniature chocolate chips
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans or almonds
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) of salted butter softened – (*TIP: use non-store brand butter and make sure it’s softened, not melted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar mixed with red/green sparkling sugar

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silpat mats.

2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except the final ingredient (the powdered sugar + the colored sugar). Use an electric mixer to combine until well mixed. Roll tablespoonfuls of dough into balls and place on the prepared baking sheets.

3. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool COMPLETELY before you remove them from the baking sheets. If you don’t let them cool completely, they will crumble easily. Be patient.  :)

4. Roll cooled cookies in the sparkling powdered sugar mixture. Store cookies at room temperature in a covered container for up to three days. Or store in the freezer in a covered container for up to 30 days.

Easy Hairstyles for Expecting Moms

One word every expectant (or new) mom wants to hear is, easy! And when it comes to hair, this is as true as ever. Take a look at these sophisticated yet simple-to-do hairstyles that will have you out the door in no time.

The easiest style of all, the ponytail is always a go-to! Tie up your tresses with a simple band that matches your hair color. Leave it at that, or add some volume by curling the strands of your pony for a night out or special event.

Buns are back and here to stay! To achieve this gorg style, put your hair into a low ponytail and secure with a band. Starting from the nape of your neck, twist your pony down to the ends; keeping the twist intact, wrap it around the hairband in a circular motion until you have formed your bun. Secure the bun with bobby pins to keep it steady.

One of the simplest ways to add some instant style a braid or two! Leaving your hair down, braid a one-inch section of your hair on either side of your part; pull each braid back so they meet in the center of the back of your head. Finally, secure the ends with bobby pins for a look that’s boho-beautiful.

When in doubt, try some texture! Many hair care brands carry texturizing sprays that help to create those beachy waves that celebrities wear so well. To glow like Kate, while your hair is damp, apply a liberal amount of spray from root to tip, and then flip your hair over. Using your fingers and a diffuser hairdryer attachment, gently blow-dry your hair. When dry, flip your hair right side up and instant waves will be upon you!
