On Friday April 4th and Saturday April 5th, founder and head designer, Cecile Reinaud, visited Destination Maternity Madison Avenue and Paramus for two great events. Guests were able meet Cecile and shop the gorgeous new collection while enjoying mocktails and light bites from PICNIC Catering and Events. Mama Mio provided pampering hand and arm massages with their updated collection of products and butter LONDON™ provided mini manicures with our newest assortment of on-trend shades.

In honor of the launch of Séraphine at Destination Maternity and A Pea in the Pod, Cecile answers five questions about her brand, style and inspiration:

Describe your brand in three words.

Parisian-chic pregnancy.

What inspires you when designing?

I take inspiration from my native city of Paris to create the overall feeling of my collections, then I look at catwalk shows, trends and styles I see on the street to hone my ideas. First and foremost, I’m always inspired by the beautiful curves of the pregnant figure. I love to design styles that will grow and adapt to a woman’s changing shape, and can be worn before, during and after pregnancy.

What are the three key pieces every mom-to-be should own?

A flattering pair of maternity jeans, A little black maternity dress, and a stylish scarf for accessorizing.

How would you style your favorite piece from the collection?

My favorite piece is the Short Sleeve V-neck Twist Front Maternity Shirt – it’s so versatile! I’d wear it with skinny jeans for a casual look, or with leather pants and heels for a more vamped up evening look.

What celebrity mom or mom-to-be do you admire for their fashion choices?

We’ve been honored to dress a number of super stylish celebrity moms in Séraphine and it’s always a pleasure to see how they each wear our clothes differently to suit their own style. I loved seeing Gwen Stefani in our clothes recently – as a designer herself, she really nailed her pregnancy style.

Five Tips for a Seamless Transition Into Spring

Cold, blustery days are almost gone and warmer temperatures will soon be on their way. Here are five fashion tips to follow for an easy transition into spring:

1. Pretty Pastels: Glamour Magazine says pastels are one of the most “wearable trends” from the Spring 2014 runways. Add some color into your wardrobe with light and airy sweaters or bright colored denim that can easily transition you into spring.

2. Flower Power: Incorporate some floral prints like this ultra-feminine, Jessica Simpson floral blouse to complement key pieces of your wardrobe.

3. Change Up Your Layers: Instead of bulky sweaters and blazers, add a bright cardigan or a short-sleeved sweater to give your outfit a fresh look.

4. The Novel Jacket: Swap your winter coat for a lighter option.  Ditch heavier outerwear for a jacket with a sleek and edgy vibe; think faux-leather and Moto jackets.

5. The Finishing Touch: Nail polish is a fun and easy way to incorporate the trendiest spring colors into your wardrobe. Try one of our new Butter London nail lacquers in a variety of on-trend shades.

More than Just Jeans

maternity denimYes, we adore our maternity jeans; ultra-comfortable and stylish, they take us through the whole nine months and beyond. However, for a different spin, dare to do denim in an unexpected way! From shirts and jackets to vests and dresses, denim has found an on-trend home on much more than your basic bottoms. Mixed together – in varying washes such as indigo and chambray – or worn separately with pops of bright hues, denim is a quintessential style maker 12 months-a-year.
