Séraphine Launches At Destination Maternity!

Launched in 2002 in London, Séraphine offers innovative maternity styles for pregnant women seeking stylish, high quality maternity fashion. Offering style as well as practicality, the full line includes casual to formal maternity wear, nursing clothes, maternity evening dresses and accessories. With an impressive list of A-list followers, Séraphine has recently dressed the Duchess of Cambridge, Zara Phillips, Gwen Stefani, Halle Berry and Kate Winslet and celeb fans include Angelina Jolie, January Jones, Claudia Schiffer, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner, Kate Hudson and Sienna Miller.

The UK based maternity line has recently launched at over 100 Destination Maternity® and A Pea in the Pod® stores nationwide and online at destinationmaternity.com and apeainthepod.com. Destination Maternity offers select pieces from the Séraphine Spring/Summer 2014 collection including separates and dresses. Destination Maternity will also exclusively sell Séraphine’s signature Jolene Dressthe very same dress that was worn by The Duchess of Cambridge in her famous family portrait.

On Friday April 4th and Saturday April 5th, founder and head designer, Cecile Reinaud, visited Destination Maternity Madison Avenue and Paramus for two great events. Guests were able meet Cecile and shop the gorgeous new collection while enjoying mocktails and light bites from PICNIC Catering and Events. Mama Mio provided pampering hand and arm massages with their updated collection of products and butter LONDON™ provided mini manicures with our newest assortment of on-trend shades.

In honor of the launch of Séraphine at Destination Maternity and A Pea in the Pod, Cecile answers five questions about her brand, style and inspiration:

Describe your brand in three words.

Parisian-chic pregnancy.

What inspires you when designing?

I take inspiration from my native city of Paris to create the overall feeling of my collections, then I look at catwalk shows, trends and styles I see on the street to hone my ideas. First and foremost, I’m always inspired by the beautiful curves of the pregnant figure. I love to design styles that will grow and adapt to a woman’s changing shape, and can be worn before, during and after pregnancy.

What are the three key pieces every mom-to-be should own?

A flattering pair of maternity jeans, A little black maternity dress, and a stylish scarf for accessorizing.

How would you style your favorite piece from the collection?

My favorite piece is the Short Sleeve V-neck Twist Front Maternity Shirt – it’s so versatile! I’d wear it with skinny jeans for a casual look, or with leather pants and heels for a more vamped up evening look.

What celebrity mom or mom-to-be do you admire for their fashion choices?

We’ve been honored to dress a number of super stylish celebrity moms in Séraphine and it’s always a pleasure to see how they each wear our clothes differently to suit their own style. I loved seeing Gwen Stefani in our clothes recently – as a designer herself, she really nailed her pregnancy style.

Trends We Love: Tunics & Leggings

maternity tunics and leggingsPossibly a mom-to-be’s best friend, the maternity tunic has just the right touch of comfy-meets-stylish! From solids and stripes to pretty prints and cozy knits, we can’t get enough of these long and lean looks that pair perfectly with your maternity leggings. Accessorize with a bump-framing blazer, this season’s over-the-knee boot and a statement piece of jewelry for a look that will last all day long – and into the night.

Comfortable, stylish and able to be paired with just about anything, leggings are another must-have trend. Whether cropped, full-length, leather or jersey-knit, leggings are a staple, meant to work for your wardrobe through all nine months and beyond.  Available with our patented Secret Fit Belly® or Underbelly, there is a style to fit your unique preference. Dress your leggings up by pairing them with a chic blouse and heels or go casual-cool with a denim jacket, tunic and flats.

Trend Alert // Prints + Stripes

prints-trendFashionistas and runway reports agree: prints are taking center stage when it comes to spring trends. Whether it’s floral, plaid, animal or striped, prints are everywhere from tops and dresses to shoes and accessories.

Olivia Capone Myers, Design Director for A Pea in the Pod, touches on this exciting trend: “Impactful prints are an easy way to add a little punch to your wardrobe. Prints are great to wear during your pregnancy and add an element femininity and playfulness to simple silhouettes. There are so many options to try this spring.”

Blue Beauties

maternity clothesAn instant way to brighten up your look, cool blues are making themselves known this season. An ideal color to pair with grounding neutrals – such as black, brown and white – we love how blue can exude a bold and bright pop of color or tone things down in a dark and mysterious shade. Flattering on just about every skin tone, it would be a shame to miss out on this cooling hue.

Looks We Love

A great pair of jeans will take you from a mid-morning brunch to a late-night dinner without missing a beat. The ideal weekend wear, pair these best-selling Wallflower boot cut jeans – in a must-have dark wash – with this feminine yet cool graphic floral tee that combines a modern print with a bit of an edge. Topped off by an open front cardigan you will absolutely live in, and you’re ready to go from dawn until dusk.

Gorgeous Jewels

A Pea in the PodWith cooler weather just around the corner, it’s just about time to switch your wardrobe from lightweight pastels to jewel toned hues. Deep and regal, these colors evoke all of the cozy warmth we crave with a generous dose of beauty. Try deep reds, emerald greens, moody purples and luxurious yellow. Easily interchangeable with one another, they serve as both the backdrop and the star during fall’s fashion-loving season.

Gone Grey

Gone GreyGrey is without a doubt at the top of our color must-have list! A bit dark and muted, but with a sophisticated edge, it’s the perfect transitional hue. Acting as a neutral base, pair it with punchy brights – as in shorts, jeans or capris – or add a basic black or white tee to a grey striped skirt. We like to call it your new LGA (Little Grey Anything), to wear anywhere, anytime.
