People constantly ask me if anything has been different with my current pregnancy than with my first. My husband and I aren’t finding out the gender of this baby *gasp*, so everyone and their mother wants to try and figure it out! While I wasn’t quite as sick this time around, and I may be carrying a little lower, the one thing that has truly been different with this pregnancy has been my maternity style.

When I was carrying my daughter Saydee, I was so excited to wear maternity clothes! I wanted maternity pants, shirts with the “scrunchy-sides” as I called them, and anything with an empire waist. Why? Because I was pregnant and that’s what pregnant people wear, obviously. While I never chose anything that looked bad on me, per say, I didn’t stay true to my own personal style.
With this baby I still wear maternity pants, shirts with the “scrunchy-sides” and so many maternity dresses that I sometimes forget I’m pregnant and supposed to be uncomfortable. The difference with all of these clothes this time around is that everything is 100% true to my style. I chose denim brands that I love like AG Jeans and Paige, tees that reflect my modern taste and dresses with a cool-girl vibe.

You may not be able to control how your body is growing, how much weight you gain, or how big your belly gets, but you can control how you dress that beautiful bump! For me, my maternity style has given me even a small sense of normalcy through the never-ending changes my body has gone through. It’s so important to remain genuine and true to your personal style by wearing clothes that make you feel great on the outside as well as on the inside, pregnant or not!
