Dressing the bump can be a daunting task and even more so when it comes to dressing it for the holidays or a special occasion. Of course with all of the changes we experience during pregnancy, figuring out what to wear is one of the most challenging parts! My advice for when deciding what works is to try and keep it simple. At 36 weeks pregnant, I am finding that I am drawn to more fitted silhouettes typically, and neutral colors like black. I always add a little something extra to my outfits with a bold lip or by accessorizing with jewelry. This long sleeve Rachel Zoe maternity dress is simple and classy, with a little bling thanks to the sequin collar. A piece like this is so effortless and chic, and it really does all the work for you!

Another piece of advice I would share is to pick something comfortable. This is key, especially while attending a holiday party with all that yummy food that is bound to be there. I for one know I like to indulge while pregnant and on top of that, the holidays make it an even better excuse; so, you might as well be wearing something that doesn’t make you squirm or feel uncomfortable the moment you eat something! You can wear a statement silhouette that shows off your growing bump, or something like I wore here, where my bump is more hidden (unless I hold the dress to show it off). Either work great, depending on whichever you’re more comfortable with. Holiday Maternity Look_10

When it comes to choosing a shoe, don’t be afraid to also choose what is most comfortable. I definitely know that I could not conquer a holiday party with my 6 inch pumps, lugging my 36 week baby bump around without a major struggle – so opt for a shoe/boot that you ultimately can have on for more than 15 minutes! Trust me; you’ll enjoy yourself at the party much more!

My last piece of advice would be to choose something you’d normally gravitate towards – as in don’t go changing your personal style or taste just because you’re growing a little human. I think what has helped me stay confident during both of my pregnancies is sticking to my style and who I am, as well as finding pieces that still feel like “me” but work with my growing bump. Also, if you’re choosing a dress, definitely snag some maternity tights; you won’t regret it!

Happy holiday dressing! Xx
