The start of the New Year is a great time for busy moms to reprioritize and refocus. Here are some goals I am setting to help make 2016 my year:
Find more time for me: With a hectic schedule last year, I skipped my favorite yoga classes, salon appointments and even wellness check-ups more times than I can count. This year, I plan to make time for the things that keep me feeling my best on the inside and out.
Think before I speak: I can be a people pleaser; any invite, favor or request I automatically answer with a resounding, “YES.” Can you relate? Now that I’m a mom and my family is my priority, I’m vowing to think first before I commit so that we can enjoy our free time together and have the time to relax when we need to.
Get better at bedtime: Bedtime has slowly gotten to be a chore over the last few months. My toddler’s nighttime routine is all over the place, leaving Mom and Dad with no adult time to decompress. Getting back to a nightly schedule is paramount for the New Year.
Make mealtime healthy + simple: I find that cooking a few meals on the weekends for the whole week makes life so much easier. I’m also all about finding ways to spend less time in the kitchen and food store, too; I plan on signing up for Blue Apron and Graze, a monthly subscription that delivers healthy, properly portioned snacks to your door.
Be easier on myself: Being Supermom all the time just isn’t realistic. I always set the bar high and when I miss the mark, from losing my cool to forgetting my son’s blanket at Grandma’s, I take it hard. This year I’m promising to cut myself some slack!
