EGGCELLENT REVEAL

MH BLOG Eggcellent Reveal 2018 v3

You know we love a good gender reveal, and this time we wanted to give you some ideas for how to incorporate it into your Easter festivities! Instead of a party, or an Instagrammable backdrop, we decided to make family the center of the good news. Below are some suggestions for how to do the reveal throughout Easter Sunday, from basket to brunch to an egg hunt. See below for some style suggestions too!

What’s in your basket? This is the chance to surprise your children, your husband, or whoever is there for the morning madness. Fill a basket with everything pink or blue to reveal the sex. (It doesn’t hurt to be wearing cute blue or pink pjs either!)

What’s for brunch? If you know ahead of time, and are ready to reveal to everyone else, dye your Easter eggs in powdery pink or baby blue for a simple, yet apropos surprise. (Brunch is better with a floral arrangement, right? Click here to shop pink and blue flowery maternity dresses.)

What’s the hunt about? Ahead of time, fill the eggs with pink or blue candy, so that when everyone opens their findings, they get the good news. (Shop the post! This tie detail textured maternity dress is perfect for dinner after an egg hunt, while the best-selling maternity overalls look darling with a plain white maternity tee and a pretty kimono top.)

Happy [almost] Easter and we can’t wait to see the surprise! @motherhoodmaternity #thisisgoingtobefun

GENDER REVEAL: WHAT’S AT THE END OF OUR RAINBOW?

MH BLOG GR RAINBOW v1

Lucky you ☘️ you get to find out the sex of your baby around St. Patrick’s Day!  We are green with envy. How charmed you are! Okay, okay— we’ll give the puns a rest. But seriously, what a fun month to find out the good news and to plan a gender reveal. Loving themes and holidays, we knew we had to take advantage of everything St. Paddy’s. We’re only missing a Leprechaun…

The rainbow was hand made by us, an editor and a social media specialist. In other words, it was easy! We used paper streamers in the traditional colors of the rainbow, with the inclusion of pink, because why not? The white balloons became the clouds and a green bucket was transformed into a pot of gold. Under a layer of gold streamers we placed blue coins, ready to be tipped and revealed. We chose to create a photo shoot around the rainbow, but this can seamlessly become the centerpiece of a party, where guests are there to participate in the reveal!

Need a look for said party? Be one and done with the best-selling, everyone’s favorite, top-rated maternity overalls. Up the fun factor with a graphic maternity tee like this Mom’s Lucky Charm one.  No worries, you’ll shamrock any look. 😉

GENDER REVEAL: MORE TO LOVE

MH BLOG GR TWINS v1

You know we LOVE gender reveal themes and holidays, so there was no way we were going to let Valentine’s Day slide!

Start with heart, or many hearts. From our “backdrop”, which is actually a table cloth, to punchy red decorations and a large box of chocolates, the color red took center stage.  We wanted this to be a simple execution with an impactful reveal.

By swapping out two of the chocolates with either pink or blue candy hearts, the surprise is then sweetly uncovered by lifting off the lid. This time of year, it is easy to find pink chocolate hearts, but if baby or babies are boys, we suggest buying blue foil, coloring your silver foil, or placing the chocolates in blue wrappers. One, two, three- done!

We also wanted to showcase that some mamas have even more to love if they’re expecting multiples! We tucked our “It’s Twins!” maternity t-shirt into the lid of the chocolates for a cute way to capture the news. This reveal can be done for one or even more than two babies! And the best part is that once you snap that Insta-worthy shot… you get to eat the chocolate! Enjoy, congrats, and happy Valentine’s Day!

GENDER REVEAL: WINTER *WONDER*LAND

MH BLOG GR WONDERLAND v1

We are at it again with the newest Gender Reveal idea for you! Winter is an amazing time to get your friends together for a gathering close to home, full of warmth and love. We played back and forth with a Baby It’s Cold Outside theme and landed on WINTER WONDERLAND. With touches of nature, like wood and trees, mixed with white marshmallows, the theme practically shaped itself!

We created a hot cocoa bar using small jars with chalkboard labels so guests can sweeten up their cocoa however they want! Then, we bought blue and pink coating chocolate, heated that up and dipped our spoons in the melted candy. Once they were dry and the colored chocolate solidified, we took the spoons and dipped them in white chocolate, covering the revealing shade. We stuck the white chocolate covered spoons in the fridge to harden.  Before your party begins, or before the big reveal, allow your guests to take the spoons with either blue for boy, or pink for girl, and include them in finding out the sex! We used white hot chocolate, but hot milk works too! Once the chocolate layers begin to melt in the hot liquid, it will turn the color you originally covered the spoon with! As you can see… baby is a boy!

This sweet surprise is easy to prepare; all items can be bought from your local craft store. All you need are cups or mugs, cocoa, and some good friends. How are you revealing the news? Any winter themes of your own? Share them with us using #thisisgoingtotbefun @motherhoodmaternity!

You can find all items at your local craft store or even dollar store. Find a cute tray and make sure it’s hidden somewhere you won’t see until the ball drops.

GENDER REVEAL – DECK THE HALLS

MH Blog GR Stocking 2017 v1

Have you ever made your own ornaments before? It’s super easy, and has become our newest idea for a Christmas-themed Gender Reveal.

We found clear Christmas ball ornaments at our nearest craft store. We also picked up a bag of green jingle bells and a bag of red ones, plus some fake snow. We decided to use the colors of the season to aid in this reveal. Green is for boy and red is for girl. To add more of a holiday twist, we decided to use the stocking to hide the ornament — it’s a boy!

What we love about this idea, although simplistic, is that it becomes the catalyst for so many ways to share the good news. You can take pictures, like ones we snapped, and put them on your Christmas card. (Check out how we did this with our last reveal). Or, you can make entire day out of it with family and friends. Have them over for making ornaments and memories, then do the reveal live with your own stocking! This is a great way for you, yourself, to also be surprised.

How are you revealing the gender? Are you keeping it holiday themed? We want to see! Use #thisisgoingtobefun @motherhoodmaternity or learn more about our #MerryMoms Campaign for personalizing all those picture-worthy moments.

CHRISTMAS CARD GENDER REVEAL

MH Blog GR Tree 2017 v1

Get ready to have the best kind of blue Christmas, because it’s a boy! We are at it again, combining holidays and gender reveals. We started to think of ways that people share good news this time of year, regardless of being pregnant, and immediately sending holiday cards came to mind. We then thought about decorating with color… and voila, our inspiration came to life.

We started off with decorating an actual tree, but settled on something a little more modern and fun. Using garland opens the door up for more than just one color. You can swap out the green foliage for other colors like silver, gold, or white. We wanted to keep the “tree” aspect traditional, but feel free to edit our idea!

We opted for shades of blue and silver balls to showcase that baby is a boy. Obviously, you can swap in pink… or throw on both if twins are on the way! How are you revealing this holiday season? Sending a card out too? Tag us in yours @motherhoodmaternity using #thisisgoingtobefun and check out our #MerryMoms campaign to see how to upload and customize all your magical moments this season.

GENDER REVEAL: WHAT’S ON THE MENU?

MH Blog GR Thanksgiving 2017 v2

With loved ones naturally gathering for the upcoming holidays, it is the perfect time to work in a festive and seasonal gender reveal. Integrating Thanksgiving dinner into our newest photo shoot inspiration was a no-brainer, especially because there is so much to be thankful and grateful for. Check out how easy it was to set the scene!

Step One: Make your menu with each course listed out separately. As you can see, our fancy feast has starters and the main course, then dessert! Personalize yours and of course include the food you plan to serve your guests! Have the final course or written line guide your guests to turn over the menu…

Step Two: Make sure the back of the menu has the gender! You can write it out as we have, or get creative and cute with it. Make a turkey with a hairbow or bowtie, or have a picture of a pink or blue pie. The choice of reveal is yours!

Step Three: Make the theme come even more to life with props, like our pink wishbone. Another way to include color is to make your desserts really mirror the reveal. For example, have pomegranate sparking water with cherry pies for a girl, and incorporate blueberries for a boy.

Extra Step: After you dress the table, dress yourself in style that allows to wear your heart on your sleeve… bump! Our holiday graphic tees are the fun way to get festive. The “We’re Adding a Turkey to Our Table” one is amazing, but we also have, “Gobble ‘til You Waddle”, “Blessed, Thankful, Grateful” and “This Turkey Takes 9 Months to Cook”.

Are you planning on sharing the good news or the gender at your Thanksgiving dinner? Let us know @motherhoodmaternity with #thisisgoingtobefun #merrymoms and we promise we won’t tell!

EVERY HERO NEEDS A SIDEKICK

MH Blog GR HeroHeroine 2017 v1

This one’s for the second-time mama. We used the simplicity of the cape to be the reveal. Your child can come out wearing the cape once he or she knows if baby is a brother or sister. Just turn the cape to pink for girl and blue for boy. This can also be used as the image on a Gender Reveal Invitation, social post or even as a video on Instagram… check out how we did it: @motherhoodmaternity #thisisgoingtobefun

SHARE THE THRONE

MH Blog GR PrincePrincess 2017 v1

We love Gender Reveals, as you can probably gather by now, and we don’t think the excitement of a reveal should be limited to first time parents! Looking for clever ways to incorporate big sisters and big brothers into the mix, we came up with a royal theme.

For Who Will Share the Trone?, our beautiful model Vittoria will be revealing if her sibling is a prince or princess. With a little fairy tale magic and a gold pen, we created the sign on poster board, and then taped it to a pretty metal curtain rod. Add in a castle, your little royal highness, and let the second crown be the reveal. In this case… another princess is on the way!
