I have worked for Destination Maternity as a Copywriter within the Creative Department for over two years. Each day I am amazed by the talent of the people on my team but when they threw me a surprise shower, I was truly blown away!
The theme was a carnival and it was probably the classiest and chicest carnival I have ever been to! There were rustic, old-timey touches, mixed with more modern and whimsical cotton candy bouquets and baskets made to look like hot air balloons. It’s hard to keep emotions in check when you feel like a balloon yourself and you’re pretty much full-term, but I held back the tears the best I could. The décor was incredible, but the gifts were even better! I received adorable clothing, shoes, books, a tutu and toys for my little one, and a nursing pillow and a gift card to get myself a (much-needed) massage!
Preparing to go on maternity leave and leaving your daily routine, including the people you see and work with every day, has made me anxious. However, the shower made me feel so supported and has helped ease the transition for me. Mamas-to-be need the extra love, especially around the last few weeks, and I really cannot put into words how much I was touched by such kindness!

Framed animal prints, paper corsages, murals and even an accent wall can turn a basic nursery into a unique room for your little one. One of the simplest ways to add something fun on the wall is to frame your favorite card or print or purchase your baby’s initials for over the crib. A friend of mine just decorated her little boy’s nursery in an adorable nautical theme! She loves the beach and ocean, so she brought those earth and water tones into the room where she can spend time with her little one. I love the results and the theme! Nautical is a trend in interior and nursery design, in particular, that never gets old. It’s continually being updated with new elements. 
This year I am all about white and gold since they flow so seamlessly from Halloween, to Thanksgiving, past Christmas and into New Years. White pumpkins are so easy to find this time of year and make such an elegant and easy centerpiece or accent for Thanksgiving. I put some mini-pumpkins in a metallic bowl on my dining room table and filled them in vases around my home. It’s super simple, but people always compliment me on them.
Gold and metallic touches are also everywhere right now, even in our maternity collections at A Pea in the Pod and Motherhood Maternity. Metallic polish, blush, and pretty undergarments will get you in the [very pretty] holiday spirit. You’ll find some great metallic tops too that are about to make your holidays glow. Gold is quite chic against neutral colors like ivory and grey, plus it looks amazing with lighter shades like mint green or blush pink. To get the look just add gold frames, maybe a pillow, and sunburst mirror. If you aren’t finding the perfect gold mirror or picture frame, you can always purchase gold spray paint at your local hardware store and get a fabulous look at a fraction of the price. I also love the idea of putting a pair of baby booties in a picture box for an easy and cute wall art idea.
