You know we LOVE gender reveal themes and holidays, so there was no way we were going to let Valentine’s Day slide!

Start with heart, or many hearts. From our “backdrop”, which is actually a table cloth, to punchy red decorations and a large box of chocolates, the color red took center stage.  We wanted this to be a simple execution with an impactful reveal.

By swapping out two of the chocolates with either pink or blue candy hearts, the surprise is then sweetly uncovered by lifting off the lid. This time of year, it is easy to find pink chocolate hearts, but if baby or babies are boys, we suggest buying blue foil, coloring your silver foil, or placing the chocolates in blue wrappers. One, two, three- done!

We also wanted to showcase that some mamas have even more to love if they’re expecting multiples! We tucked our “It’s Twins!” maternity t-shirt into the lid of the chocolates for a cute way to capture the news. This reveal can be done for one or even more than two babies! And the best part is that once you snap that Insta-worthy shot… you get to eat the chocolate! Enjoy, congrats, and happy Valentine’s Day!

We are at it again with the newest Gender Reveal idea for you! Winter is an amazing time to get your friends together for a gathering close to home, full of warmth and love. We played back and forth with a Baby It’s Cold Outside theme and landed on WINTER WONDERLAND. With touches of nature, like wood and trees, mixed with white marshmallows, the theme practically shaped itself!

We created a hot cocoa bar using small jars with chalkboard labels so guests can sweeten up their cocoa however they want! Then, we bought blue and pink coating chocolate, heated that up and dipped our spoons in the melted candy. Once they were dry and the colored chocolate solidified, we took the spoons and dipped them in white chocolate, covering the revealing shade. We stuck the white chocolate covered spoons in the fridge to harden.  Before your party begins, or before the big reveal, allow your guests to take the spoons with either blue for boy, or pink for girl, and include them in finding out the sex! We used white hot chocolate, but hot milk works too! Once the chocolate layers begin to melt in the hot liquid, it will turn the color you originally covered the spoon with! As you can see… baby is a boy!

This sweet surprise is easy to prepare; all items can be bought from your local craft store. All you need are cups or mugs, cocoa, and some good friends. How are you revealing the news? Any winter themes of your own? Share them with us using #thisisgoingtotbefun @motherhoodmaternity!

Ring in the New Year with a Gender Reveal party! There’s no better way to celebrate the stroke of midnight than surprising your guests with some sparkle – pink or blue!

Before guests arrive, fill 5 or 6 glass or plastic baby bottles with blue or pink glitter. Add in some silver and/or gold to make the mix extra sparkly! You can find all items at your local craft store or even dollar store. Find a cute tray and make sure it’s hidden somewhere you won’t see until the ball drops.

Once the new year is here, lips have been kissed, horns have been blown, and pots have been banged… “serve” your guests from the tray revealing pink or blue! Our New Year’s baby is a girl!

Make sure that you capture every exciting moment while wearing the most insta-worthy shirt: our Poppin’ Bottles Maternity Tee! As always, we want to see your reveal @motherhoodmaternity #thisisgoingtobefun – Happy New Year!

MH HalloweenDIY Blog v1

Our Social Media Specialist got really crafty, literally, when she thought up and then executed these DIY costumes. She actually made them in our office using the items shown. With a little glue and a lot of love, we present to you:

A tiny trip to the craft store was all our co-worker needed to create this costume. She chose the black version of the side-ruched tee, then placed the larger squares in the center and edged with the smaller to create a spherical shiny shape, perfect for the pregnancy costume that will amp up any party! We paired it with our black fold-over belly lightweight skirt, so you can dance the night away without breaking a sweat.

Using our basic white side-ruched maternity tee, our co-worker laid it on a flat surface and began to place the pompom balls down until they created a perfect circle. Then, she picked up each pompom, added some fabric glue, replaced it and voila— a gum-ball machine! We paired the top with our red Jessica Simpson crop maternity pants to complete the classic color combination.

This last one is for the minimalist mama-to-be who wants the compliment, but not the complication. This one really is as easy as 1, 2, 3: get felt, cut a circle and two heart eyes, fabric glue it on our black cold-shoulder maternity dress. Happy Halloween!

MH Blog GR BackToSchool 2017 v1

Sharing the news about baby in September? We think our Back to School gender reveal theme deserves an A+!  With the help from some classic fairy tales leather-backed in pink and blue, crayons, chalkboards, desks and maps… we made a world where school is definitely fun.

The reveal is interactive. Let your guests wear their guess by picking glasses that match their vote. Besides blue and pink sweets, make your menu work with the décor, like apple slices, carrot sticks, pb&j sandwiches, grilled cheeses, pudding packs and all the best in lunchtime and after school snacking!

And of course, make sure you show up to “class” in a cute maternity top like our Pink or Blue We Love You one and a pair of jeans for that casual, cool kid look.  This is also a great theme if you’re expecting a second or third child and already have children. Make the start of school exciting for them and let them help set it up. Mix in art that they made, decorations they created, and even have them play the role of teacher, where they write the reveal on the board. It’s a great way to end the summer with family and friends.

Having a party? Tag us in your post @motherhoodmaternity with #thisisgoingtobefun for that picture-perfect reveal.

Anchors Away! A sweet little girl is here to stay!

We showered our Project Manager, Jeff, with a nautical themed party to help him celebrate the pending arrival of his baby girl. How cute is his daughter Rosalie?! Before she was posing as a mermaid, enchanting the seas and her parents, we were eating tiny cupcakes and cinnamon rolls awaiting her entrance into the world!

It may seem tricky to throw a man a baby shower, especially one for a girl. We knew we wanted to hit the right notes by balancing pink with some cool toned colors. Immediately, we thought of the summer seas and sunsets and our nautical theme was born! Hints of turquoise and navy helped us break up the bright and light pinks. (He honestly just happened to be wearing an outfit that matched!)

Splashes of gold and other earthy tones helped bring the décor together for a party that was the perfect mixture of mermaid and manly. Even Lucy, Jeff’s pup, was treated to a surprise; big sisters deserve to be celebrated too!

We want to congratulate Jeff and his wife Lauren on the arrival of their new baby! Make sure you tell us about your summer shower with #thisisgoingtobefun @motherhoodmaternity.

Swimwear 2017

Has there ever been a month that gives more summer envy than May?  There’s the little taste of heat, Memorial Day is on the horizon and we get the best Justin Timberlake memes. So, to kick off the new month, we are dedicating the first two weeks to swim! Maternity swim is in and we want to get you out and about.

The thing we love about being pregnant in the summer, perhaps is the thing you are most afraid of… having a belly. But here’s the best part – YOU DO NOT NEED TO SUCK IT IN THIS YEAR! You got the beach bump and it’s beautiful.

We’ve got tankinis (which our customers love, because pregnant women do, ahem, have to pee a lot) and one pieces with stretchy fabric so they grow as you do. Love the two styles we featured? Both come in plus size too! The swim shop is open; now is the time to find the swimsuits that suit you!

Priorities change when you become pregnant, but that doesn’t mean New Year’s Eve has to lack all of the fun. Just remember, water is not only healthier than champagne… it’s cheaper too! Poppin’ bottles takes on a whole new meaning when baby comes, so show off that girl you used to be with a shirt with quirk, like this one! Or, check out our New Arrivals to help ring in the New Year. 2017 is going to be the one to remember, so enter it smiling (or sleeping!) because we know just how tired you may be mama.  Here’s to new beginnings and an amazing ending to 2016.

Happy New Year!

From Rachel

It’s that time of year when your calendar is booked with every sort of holiday festivity. With everything from dinner parties and work events, to your own at-home holiday soirees, you’ll want to have an arsenal of outfits and entertainment tips to get you through the season! I’m sharing a little guidance to effortlessly looking your best and taking on the season with ease and confidence.

It’s no secret that every woman should have at least one little black dress in her closet. Personally, I think you should have at least 2 – one short and one long, so you can go for a little or a lot of glamour, depending on your mood and the event. I love these two options! The maxi dress gives you tons of drama with its double side slits, while the beaded collar mini is playful yet chic. Make your look last through the holiday season by swapping out your accessories for each event – a metallic pump and jewel tone clutch for one occasion, and statement ring and faux fur shrug for another.Rachel Zoe tablescape

When hosting your own holiday fetè, impress your guests (and actually enjoy their company) by creating a menu that’s best served at room temperature. This way you won’t be stuck over the stove missing out on the glamorous evening that you’ve prepared for all of your friends! Joan’s on Third is my favorite gourmet market, and my go-to for beautiful appetizers (among other things).  Large wedges of cheese, rosemary crackers, assorted nuts and dried figs always make for an effortless, yet gorgeous, display of small bites that your guests will love.

A Whimsical Woodland Baby Shower

A Pea in the Pod and Motherhood Maternity’s creative team recently hosted a baby shower for our marketing coordinator and mom-to-be Jackie, who is expecting a little girl! The team chose an autumnal theme and our photo studio, an open space with lots of natural light, as the venue for the early morning brunch.
448A6487[2]454448A64904For the décor, topiaries, wood serving pieces, and naturally toned linens were simple accents to play up the rustic feel, while a hand scripted mural and clothesline stocked with brightly hued baby clothes added whimsical touches. The gifts were wrapped in homemade polka dot wrap. Starbucks lattes, muffins and sandwiches were also wrapped in brown paper to compliment the theme.
