A Letter to My Mom

Have you read Lisa Erspamer’s book A Letter to My Mom yet? It’s a must read and actually inspired me to write a letter to my own mom that I thought I’d share with all of you!IMG_7257Dear Mom,

Motherhood is often a topic of conversation at the office as you would imagine at a maternity fashion company. We talk about raising children and it always inevitably comes up how having two under two is a challenge. That’s when I love to remind people that I am actually a twin and the doctors didn’t know you were having twins, until, well we showed up.  When people ask, “How did your mother do it?” I always laugh and tell them, “You don’t know my mother.”

I’ve heard you tell people, when they ask the same of you, that you didn’t know any different; an extremely humble take on raising two children without any preparation. You rolled with the punches from the very beginning! Your love of life and confident attitude taught me to enjoy life and live in the moment. Whether it was a bad grade, a heartbreak or a lost opportunity, you were and still are my soft place to fall. You are always optimistic and remind me even today that tomorrow is another day and to always keep forging ahead. The best of friends, a wonderful wife and grandmother, I continue to learn from your example.

I will be all this for my son because you showed me how.

Love, Olivia

A Letter To My Mom Book Signing

ALETTERTOMYMOMfinalCelebrate Mother’s Day this Thursday May 7th at our Destination Maternity store in New York City! I’ll be joined by author Lisa Erspamer, who will be signing copies of her book A Letter to My Mom in honor of the holiday. Lisa’s newest book is a funny and heartwarming compilation of letters written by people all over the world to express gratitude for their mom. Contributors also include celebrities such as Kristin Chenoweth, Melissa Rivers, Josh Groban, Molly Sims, will.i.am, and more.

The emotional (and often humorous!) personal and inspiring stories about the bond between a mother and her child make this book a great read and gift for Mother’s Day. So if you are in the NYC area, stop by the store to meet Lisa, enjoy some sweet treats and shop my favorite gifts including this fabulous book! –Olivia
