Here we are with 10 weeks left to go in my second pregnancy, but baby girl and I are hanging in there! My first pregnancy was a breeze- this time around, though, has proven to be a bit tougher. All day sickness for the first four months and running after a toddler are a terrible combination. So I have been keeping it simple with a few maternity staples like these jeans and this tee – both of which I wear several times a week- sshhh!

However, regardless of the exhaustion, I am so excited to be having a girl! We shared the news with our son early on and up until recently he refused to accept that he was having a sister – he was rooting for a boy. He has slowly, but surely, come around and I can see the excitement growing about bringing home our little girl. As far as preparing him for a new sibling, a friend of mine recommended reading books with him on becoming a big brother. I also talk to him a little each day about his sister and let him feel my belly when she kicks, which he loves.

We don’t want to overwhelm Lucas, our son, with “baby things” though. When she arrives we will have him help with daily tasks in order to make him feel like he is a part of her routine. For example, we are planning to keep a basket of diapers within his reach so that he can help mommy and daddy during changes by passing us her diaper.

When I became pregnant again, if I’m being honest, for a while I suffered from a bit of mama guilt. I’d look at Lucas and think, “He’s not my baby anymore!” I was concerned about him not being our sole focus. As time has gone on, the excitement has grown and the feelings of guilt are fading away. I just can’t wait to see my children together and watch as they form an incredible brother and sister bond. We are absolutely thrilled to have our baby girl join the family!

One of the greatest things about having been pregnant before is knowing what expecting styles I like and also what children’s products I trust. There are just so many I love! A few of my favorites are Hugo loves tikiFreshly PickedZara KidsAgatha Cub, and Oeuf. I think after the first trimester sickness, I deserve a little retail therapy!  -Nicole

The Glitter Guide’s Caitlin Kruse on Her Pregnancy Essentials + Becoming a Mother

Guest Editor: Caitin Kruse, Editorial Director at The Glitter Guide

It sounds corny to say but I’ve always dreamed about becoming a mother and knew it was going to be the most important part of my life from a young age — so I honestly have a hard time believing it’s actually happening, and in 9 weeks! I know it will be the most challenging and fulfilling role of my life and I can’t wait to experience life through the eyes of a child and explore the world with her.

I try to start my day by 6:30am since I’ve found myself to be most productive before 3pm in my third trimester — this allows me to get through the most difficult and time consuming tasks before my energy gets zapped!IMG_9567

I try to always keep our house full of fresh blooms and sneak out to Whole Foods for a lunch break at least once a week to pick them up. OOTD

Tip: Since becoming pregnant I’ve been living with a capsule wardrobe and love how easy it makes getting dressed in the morning. Easy basics that can be mixed and matched like this chambray tunic from Motherhood Maternity, white jeans, jersey dresses, simple blouses and cardigans fill my closet. IMG_9626

Here’s a few of my pregnancy nighttime essentials; This Zoe Organics belly butter is so great and I also love Mustela USA’s oil. The Glow also inspires me daily and I’ve had such a sweet tooth throughout my pregnancy, nightly ice cream is my treat.

Happy Mother’s Day to you all and don’t forget to share your own photos on Instagram and Twitter showing your excitement about becoming a mother too using the hashtag #happinessisontheway! -Caitlin

Styled & Inspired // AG Jeans

Styled_and_Inspired_AG_Jeans_1-608X607 Styled_and_Inspired_AG_Jeans_2-608X543Some of our favorite bloggers and fashion influencers have recently been donning maternity styles from one of our most-loved denim brands: AG Jeans– and we’re obsessed with each of their looks!

A Pea in the Pod and Destination Maternity both offer the latest styles and washes from AG Jeans translated specifically for a baby bump. With the Secret Fit Belly®, you can wear some of their iconic styles like The Stilt, The Legging or The Ballad and feel comfortable throughout your whole pregnancy and beyond.

I lived in my favorite AG Jeans when I was pregnant (and still wear them!) since the Secret Fit Belly® panel is comfortable and supportive even after baby.

So take a nod from an expecting fashionistas like Staci from Leather & Leops, who paired her Destructed Skinny AG’s with an easy silk blouse, heels and a fringe bag. Keep it chic like Andrea from With Love… Andrea, who paired The Stilt with a fun top, flat, hat and cardigan. Go totally preppy like Connie who nailed the look with The Stilt Crop, striped tee and pretty ballet flat. We love them all, don’t you? -Olivia

Q+A with Blogger LoveJooKim

Love Joo Kim Love Joo KimFashion blogger, foodie and mom-to-be Joo Kim of lovejookim.com has been in my fashion line-up of style influencers for some time. I love her casual downtown vibe and could totally live in her closet. She is a serious foodie too, so it’s just as much fun following her food travels as well as her outfits!

Now that she’s expecting, she’s been working pieces from A Pea in the Pod, Motherhood Maternity and Jessica Simpson Maternity into her wardrobe. The results are amazing! Joo is a huge fan of our Secret Fit Belly® jeans; she chose our DL1961 maternity jeans to style in her 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Now that she’s nearing the end of her pregnancy, I had the chance to ask her a few questions about how she’s been maintaining her effortless look. -Olivia

What are some of your favorite maternity essentials now that you are in your 3rd trimester? My favorite maternity essential is a good pair of jeans and a comfy cardigan; they are literally my everyday go-to pieces. Accessories are really important during this pregnancy, since my outfits are more basic, and then I accessorize to give my outfit that little oomph it needs!

How did you keep your sense of style throughout your pregnancy? I think the important thing is to try wearing things you would normally wear when you’re not pregnant. I stuck to a lot of basic dresses and paired them with chunky scarves and booties – accessorize your look and get more mileage out of your outfit!

How has your beauty routine changed now that you are expecting? It’s pretty much the same. I’ve added a couple more steps like applying my belly cream and oils after my face routine. I don’t do face packs anymore, just to be safe. I would say the most important thing I do is try to hydrate myself a lot more by remembering to drink water.

Since wearing your Secret Fit Belly® jeans, tell us why you love the fit and if you plan on wearing them later after baby. I absolutely loooove the fit. Secret Fit Belly® jeans are amazing; I never knew there was such a thing for pregnant women – serious lifesaver. Especially during the colder months, a good pair of jeans is so important! The color and wash of the jeans are so chic that I probably will continue to wear them after my pregnancy for as long as I can.

In The Press November 2014

November was another busy month for us here at Destination Maternity! I’m most excited about working with some of my favorite new bloggers and celebs who have announced that they are expecting! The accomplished actress, model, humanitarian and hip mom Molly Sims recently announced she is pregnant with her 2nd baby and has been showing her support for our brands wearing our styles well, especially from A Pea in the Pod!

I’ve also been working with the super stylist, digital influencer and blogger Chriselle Lim. She’s featured many of our pieces on her own blog, and has been making quite an impression in the maternity fashion world.InThePress DEC_2-608x1334InThePress DEC_3-608x746InThePress DEC_4-608x572With a baby on board for Joo Kim, proving maternity style is accessible style seems to be her mission by sporting pieces from all of our brands, including Jessica Simpson Maternity.

Some other fabulous highlights from the month include our feature in Fit Pregnancy and Lucky Magazine. A Pea in the Pod’s leather maternity jacket was styled in Fit Pregnancy’s holiday article, while Lucky Magazine shared Rebecca Minkoff’s holiday picks from her namesake Maternity Collection available at A Pea in the Pod.  Look for more news updates next month! -Olivia

Maternity Denim // Blogger Style

Some of my favorite bloggers and fashion influencers have recently announced their pregnancies these past few months. Bloggers like Samantha Wennerstrom of Could I Have That, Jennifer Rand of Belle de Couture and Irina Bond of Bond Girl Glam prove that your style certainly does not have to waiver while you are expecting.Designer Maternity DenimDesigner Maternity DenimWhat I love about each of these fashionistas is how they’ve been able to maintain their own personal sense of style during their transition into motherhood. Sam takes modern and minimal dressing to a new level with her clean lined looks and her sophisticated, chic accessories. Jennifer has a more classic feminine appeal with the way she accessorizes, always looking fresh and fun in pops of color. Irina is a true femme fatale who isn’t afraid to take fashion risks like pairing a wide brimmed hat with her casual downtown look.

It’s really no surprise that their maternity style is influencing other expecting women; who wouldn’t want to take a cue from these stylish moms-to-be? If you take a look at their fashion repertoire you’ll find each lady rocks the perfect maternity jean. Designer denim is key in my closet as well as for so many other women I know, so it’s no shock that all of these bloggers are choosing to wear their favorite designer maternity jeans now that they are pregnant.

At A Pea in the Pod we work with brands like AG Jeans, Hudson, DL1961, and 7 for All Mankind to bring the latest denim silhouettes and washes to expecting women. With the patented Secret Fit Belly® featured on many of the brands’ jeans, comfort with support and style are accessible. I still wear my designer Secret Fit Belly® jeans. So take a note from these well- dressed women who are sporting their favorite designer duds and stay true to you, during your pregnancy and beyond
