Cecile Reinaud’s Favorite London Hotspots

Guest Editor: Cecile Reinaud, Seraphine Maternity

You may have heard that A Pea in the Pod is now available at Harrods in London! To celebrate the occasion, we thought we would check in with one of our favorite brands to hail from the UK, Seraphine. We’re not the only fans of this stylish collection; Cecile Reinaud, CEO and Founder of the brand, was recently awarded The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2015. Cecile shares more about this great honor along with some of her favorite London spots to check out!Cecile Reinaud's Favorite London Hotspots

From Cecile:

It is a huge honor to receive The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2015 and a tribute to how Britain nurtures and encourages entrepreneurship and international trade. We love being able to dress women during this momentous time in their lives,  and we can’t wait to continue in years to come. Another important moment for our brand this summer that we are so delighted about is that we are now available at the new A Pea in the Pod store at Harrods.  I am so happy that one of the world’s most iconic department stores is putting such a focus on maternity!

It just so happens that my favourite patisserie, Ladurée, is right by Harrods! I love to picnic at Kensington Gardens right by the palace as well. The view of London on top of The Shard Tower is spectacular; plus, there is a great restaurant there too.Cecile Reinaud's Favorite London Hotspots

Congratulations Cecile!

Seraphine is available at our shop in Harrods and in select stores carrying A Pea in the Pod in the US. You can also shop the brand online.

How Working Moms Make It Work: Life After Maternity Leave

Heading back to work after maternity leave is over can be a challenge! For me, the right support system of people is so important. Having a supportive husband and mom that help me balance work, family and play time with my son is the key for me. Try to find someone to help support your schedule, whether it’s your nanny, day care center, neighbors or family members.

I reached out to a few of the most career driven moms I know to offer their best tips to help ease your transition back into the working world after having a baby.003.NIV

On What to WearYou’ll want to breeze into the office after maternity leave feeling comfortable & confident. My advice is to look through your maternity clothes –  all those stylish pieces you bought for work while you were expecting will flatter your figure perfectly now, skimming stylishly over your curves. Wrap dresses like the Seraphine Britney Geo dress are perfect – they’ll highlight your empire waist, drawing attention to your slimmest point. And don’t forget your maternity pants – the Seraphine Cressida white pants pair perfectly with our Jolie Black draped shirt. Plus, that comfy over-the-bump fit which stretched out through your 9 months, will snap back to provide the perfect tummy controlling support while you’re working to regain your regular shape.

On Managing Your Time: Mornings with a little one and trying to get out the door on time can be brutal. My saving grace has been prepping each night for the next work day as much as possible. This limits rushing and allows a little extra mommy and me time with my little girl. When exhaustion from the work week kicks in, I try to steal quick naps while V is sleeping to help get me through. As crazy as it all can be, I keep a picture of V on my desk, making the moments until I get home to her (to do it all over again) a little bit easier.

On Making Time For Fun: Going back to work after maternity leave can definitely be a difficult transition, but I try to remind myself that there is no such thing as getting everything right! I manage two kids, a husband, a career and a household by planning ahead and making time for fun to relieve some stress. It may take some trial and error, but I suggest sticking to a schedule and developing a routine. Remember to ditch the laundry every once in a while for a spontaneous adventure with your kids!

On Maximizing Mommy Time: Kids grow so fast, so it’s important to live in the moment when you are with them. My biggest advice is to make those moments together count. That way, I’m not as sad when I’m away from her at work. My mornings have become much more hectic; being as organized as possible helps! I get all Carlota’s day care items packed the night before and determine what I will wear too. If you are breastfeeding, I would make sure to have some extra milk pumped prior to starting work if possible.  Pumping for me has been stressful, but having extra breast milk in the freezer helps me keep up with her need in daycare as my supply is increasing.

Q+A With Seraphine Maternity’s Head Designer

Seraphine Maternity Seraphine MaternitySeraphine MaternityWe love our designer collections at A Pea in the Pod and are extremely happy with our partnership with London-Based Brand, Seraphine Maternity. I had the opportunity to speak with their Head Designer, Cecile, who has styled celebrities and has a royal fashion following. Seen on stars like Jessica Alba and Gwen Stefani, Seraphine has also adorned the likes of The Duchess, the one and only Kate Middleton. Seraphine is known for having maternity fashion for every occasion. Luckily, we sell their products in both our A Pea in the Pod stores and online. Check out our conversation on the hottest trends inspired by some of the most fashion-forward European cities!  -Olivia

A Pea in the Pod is so happy to have Seraphine as part of our maternity collection. Can you tell us about the partnership and why you decided to launch your line with us in the US?

A Pea in the Pod is the best known global retailer specialized in fashionable maternity wear and Seraphine is delighted to showcase its collection within Pea’s 103 US stores nationwide. Our range complements perfectly the offering and is in good company with other big names like BCBGMaxazria, Nicole Miller and the huge choice of eponymous labels that A Pea in the Pod offers.

Where does your inspiration for the line come from?
Our brand motto is “stay true to your pre-pregnancy style ” and so we find ideas in the latest fashion trends for our collections . Our strength is also from our in-house print design that produces signature patterns for our dress collection each year. We like to blend French chic, British heritage and American trends to create a unique range that allows everyone to find some pieces to suit their personal style.

Why do you think the collection is a favorite for celebrities, like the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton?
Dressing royals and rock stars alike is a testimony of the wide appeal of our range, thanks to our extensive collection that offers many different wardrobe solutions. The high quality of our fabrics and our expert cuts really flatter the pregnant curves and appeal to our famous clientele. Our luxe range of evening wear has been worn at many international red carpet events, which certainly helps create our glitzy and glamorous brand reputation.

Since you are based in London, can you tell us some of the latest maternity trends happening across the pond?
London is a vibrant city and a true melting pot of cultures, making it a real incubator for new fashion trends in Europe. The strong heritage of expert tailoring, mixed with a rock and roll vibe, gives an edge to classic styles. For Spring/Summer 2015 there is a strong trend of geometric prints in vibrant colours combined with original dress shapes. Our signature maxi dresses often seen on our famous clients are continuing to set a trend for maternity wear, internationally.

P.S. If you’re in the Beverly Hills area on Friday, February 20th, stop by to meet me and Cecile for some style tips, pampering and a chance to win $300 for a Seraphine wardrobe! RSVP at events@destinationamaternity.com
