I hope you are all enjoying the day celebrating Father’s Day with the men in your life! Did you know today is also summer solstice? The summer season can be both a blessing and a curse for the mom-to-be! The warmer weather lends itself to breezy dresses and open-toe sandals, BUT with the rising temperatures, beating the heat can also be challenging! I was in my last trimester during the summer of 2013 and not only was my bump at its biggest, but I had a terrible case of edema. I lived in lightweight jersey maternity essentials and lots of layering pieces. Shorts, breezy skirts and maxi dresses were my go-to and for good reason: they were uber comfortable and easy to accessorize! Read on for some of my favorite looks that will keep you looking great and feeling cool this summer.THE MAXI: A jersey maxi dress is the perfect summer maternity essential. It’s lightweight and versatile enough to be styled up or down. Throw on a linen jacket and slides to create a totally chic weekend look. While having a few fun maxis in your wardrobe is smart, I always suggest adding at least one version that is in a simple silhouette and neutral color. Grey, navy or black can be worn so many ways and will give you tons of style mileage this summer.THE SOFT SHORT: Another warm weather must-have! Go with a classic jean short but also invest in a soft cotton short; just keep in mind the fabric should be lightweight and even have a little stretch. A short can always be paired with a tee or opt for a peasant top. Add a heel or espadrille for a more polished look. The combination is perfect for a summer party or even date night.THE KNIT SKIRT: How great is this updated maxi skirt? With a chic side slit (that’s not too high,) you have an effortless look that does double duty depending on how you accessorize. With a metallic wedge, simple stripe dolman tee and fedora, you have a city-chic look perfect for a summer night. Style TIP: For a leg lengthening look, opt for a side-ruched tee that contours to your bump. For an easier more bohemian take, pair a maxi skirt with a fitted tank and unbuttoned shirt.THE SUMMER SHEATH: Wondering what to wear to the office this summer? The sheath dress is a fabulous option and can be worn from desk to dinner. PLUS, a great black and white graphic print seamlessly transitions into fall by updating your accessories and adding a blazer.

Last weekend, we celebrated our exclusive collection with style maven Rachel Zoe by throwing shopping celebrations in select A Pea in the Pod and Destination Maternity stores throughout the country. While shopping, guests enjoyed macarons from Dana’s Bakery personalized with our hashtag #RachelZoexAPIP in flavors like chocolate molten and jelly doughnut- YUM! Décor included all white floral arrangements with peeled back roses and hydrangeas (Rachel’s favorites).
I had the pleasure of hosting two of the events in sunny Aventura and Coral Gables, Florida. It was so much fun to meet with clients and introduce them to the collection! I was able to advise on the best ways to style the bump while helping the expecting moms-to-be shop for their maternity essentials and wardrobe.Los Angeles-based blogger Leanne Barlow hosted the event in Beverly Hills and looked GORGEOUS in the Rachel Zoe Printed Caftan Maternity Dress.
Bloggers Nicole Gonzalez of Lillies and Leon, who also donned the caftan, and Staci Acquasanta of Leather and Leops, who rocked the Rachel Zoe Exposed Zipper Maternity Mini Dress, hosted the event in New York. Plus, DreamDry,the premier blowdry and styling salon co-founded by Rachel, held a braid bar to add even more boho-chic flair.
Don’t fret if you missed our events! The collection is available online and in stores.
Hope to see you at our future shopping events! Xoxo- Olivia

Spring assortments are hitting stores this month full of new neutrals, soft colors with bright pops, plus DENIM! If you are anything like me, then I know you are looking forward to updating your wardrobe, so look for lots of destructed washes and silhouettes. Denim is so hot right now, ever since the chambray shirt became a staple in any woman’s closet, especially in the maternity fashion world.
The denim dress is also new on the scene and what’s great about this piece is that you can wear it now or later when the weather gets warmer. Here’s how: since indigo looks great with colors and neutrals alike, I personally pair mine with classic shades. For instance, against a black tight and chic blazer, the indigo denim really pops. Add in some cool winter accessories like a cashmere hat, infinity scarf and booties to make a look that is edgy and cool. Finish with a statement bag and dark polish.
For later, I love playing up the denim dress with a chic nude and metallic palette. Start with a nude seamless maternity camisole for smoothing support; add an oversized straw hat and metallic thong sandal. Keep your accessories minimal with a metallic ring, nude nail and bag. Of course, I always suggest a signature frame to complete the look. If you are newly expecting, this new LBD (little blue dress) is a great investment piece since you can wear it through the rest of the winter season, through the summer and even after baby. Happy styling! -Olivia

Finally fall has arrived and the weather is cooling down. My go to for this season is a little dress and jacket. Popping on a jacket or blazer over a maternity dress is a hot look for these cool months. And bonus… it’s also a great way to get extra mileage out of your summer dresses. Proportion is key though, so make sure to look for maternity jackets and blazers that are designed with your new figure in mind. The jacket should hit just under your bump with a knee length dress and even longer if you are wearing a midi or maxi. This ensures you get a long and lean maternity look. Plus, this style takes you flawlessly from desk to dinner!

Meet Jacky: Our Senior Online Marketing Manager! Jacky graciously allowed us to take a peek inside her super-adorable baby shower and told us a little bit about the process:
Tell us about your shower outfit! What did you love most about it?
I’m very petite, so I wanted to wear something fitted that showed off my baby bump. I loved this Laundry by Shelli Segal Dress right away because it was comfortable and stylish, which is very important to me at this point in my pregnancy. To add in a pop of color, I paired the dress with a bright statement necklace. I made sure to wear a maternity shaper underneath, which helped to give me a smooth, sleek look and also helped to relieve some back pain I’ve been experiencing.
How did you decide on your location and theme? Who helped to plan the shower?
The town I live in is very rich in history, so I really wanted to take advantage of that. The shower was held at a charming, old hotel that was built in the 1700’s with beautiful antique features. Since my husband and I are keeping the gender of the baby a secret, the theme was “What Will it Bee?” My family coordinated everything around the theme from the honey jar favors to the bee hive shaped cake. My mother-in-law even baked all the sweet treats that also fit into the theme. It was truly perfect!
What was the most memorable gift you received?
We received a lot of amazing and thoughtful gifts. One of the gifts that stood out to me is from my mother-in-law. She crocheted a replica of an alphabet picture that my husband had in his room as a baby; that was very special to me. Passing on these traditions are very important in building our family together.
