SHOW YOUR BUMP SOME LOVE

so much to love

What does Valentine’s Day mean to you? At some point it may have meant dinner out, dancing and maybe a glass of wine. So what about this year? You’re pregnant, which means it’s alright to use that beautiful bump as a reason to order in, snuggle on the couch and sip a little ginger tea. It isn’t about sacrificing; it’s about indulging.

What is there not to love about maternity sleepwear that is made extra soft for your hardworking body? In shades of blush, rose and cranberry, it’s like making a cocktail of pretty pregnancy pajamas. Ask for a massage and use belly balms, oils and butters carefully crafted from expecting skincare. It is all about giving the bump a little extra TLC.

There is so much to love, so finishing the night off with glowing skin, a smooch from your honey and the feeling of your baby growing inside of you is the icing on the cake. Or… end the night with cake. Hey, you’re eating for two! Happy cravings and Happy Valentine’s Day. With Hugs & Kisses – Motherhood

Nursing Bra Checklist

Nursing Bra Checklist

Looking for the perfect nursing bra and not sure where to start? Well, I have just the checklist for you! As a breastfeeding mother myself and former nursing bra designer, I’m going to give you the breakdown on the different types of nursing bras, describing whether or not they will work specifically for you. I also have a few recommendations of my own, so read on for all the juicy deets!

First, a few things to keep in mind as you go through your pregnancy…. OBVIOUSLY, your breasts may continue to grow and then again once you begin breastfeeding. For that reason, I recommend shopping for new bras each trimester before baby, then again after. Seriously, please do not try and make-do with a bulging bra for 9 months for the sake of your pocketbook, ESPECIALLY when Destination Maternity has great offers like BUY 3 GET ONE FREE on all bras right now.

When it comes to nursing it is all about the fit AND the clip down nursing feature. The bra style is your preference (demi, full coverage, seamless) but the fit is designed for your growing bust, and that’s on us. The fancy clip down feature offers easy single handed nursing access and has a modesty panel underneath. So, rather than pulling down your whole bra strap and cup, our bras clip down from the cup and don’t leave you completely exposed.

Now on to the basic styles; since not all nursing bras are made alike, please take note of their differences.

Nursing Bra Checklist Nursing Bra ChecklistSleep: This super soft, unlined bra usually comes in a wrap style. It offers light support at night (although many women choose to wear this during the day too) and has an easy pull over nursing feature. This type is perfect for night time feedings in the dark, a must-have starting in the 1st trimester for light bed time support.

Sports: Great for working out, since it is a supportive bra with light cups and straps that don’t dig in.

Full Coverage: These bras come in wireless and underwire, but all offer more coverage for a fuller cup size. This style is also available in a molded cup, which offers smoothing support.

Seamless: My favorite! Made in super supportive and seamless fabric, this style is lightly lined and extremely comfortable. It’s a great everyday or night time bra. Also, it is smart to stock up on these early in the 1st or 2nd trimester since they are extremely forgiving and soft on sensitive skin.

Convertible: This bra is just like its non-nursing counterpart, the demi bra, plus it is crafted with a great convertible strap feature… a must have for wedding season!

Wireless: I was a wireless girl before I got preggers and went with this wire-free style throughout trimesters 1 through 4. Some women are so sensitive that prior wire lovers go wireless during pregnancy and while nursing. This style is also available in a molded cup.

Demi: No need for full-coverage? Go with a demi nursing bra. Available in different fabrics and colors, the demi is a customer favorite and makes for a great everyday bra.

Keep in mind the rule of 4! Always have 4 bras on hand at any time: one to wear, one to wash, and two at-the-ready. I hope you find the perfect nursing bras for you! -Olivia

New Mom Must-haves

So I’ve been talking a lot lately about being a new mom and some of the pieces that are essential in the days and months after you bring baby home. Check out the post I did earlier this month: What to Wear: New Mom Edition, where I gave my picks for some great new mom pieces. All this new mom talk got me reminiscing to when Grey was just an infant. I’ve been going through all of the photos from those first few days home from the hospital up until today. I am in awe at how big my little boy is getting and how time flies!

I will always cherish those moments, and they definitely reminded me that I have to get on top of that scrap-book I’ve been meaning to put together for Greyson. Flipping through those photos made me think about you guys, so I thought I’d share some photos and some of my personal favorite maternity pieces and pregnancy products I needed as a new mom! All of these items I still use today, almost 17 months after bringing my little man home- so that’s proof that you’ll get mileage out of these!olivia_newmom-1_608x6541I will always cherish those moments, and they definitely reminded me that I have to get on top of that scrap-book I’ve been meaning to put together for Greyson. For Greyson, his two favorites were and still are his swaddles and Sophie the Giraffe. These super soft cotton swaddles do triple duty. They act as a swaddle, burp cloth, and nursing cover. I love them!  Sophie is a teether that Grey used as an infant and still does. This adorable giraffe also acts as a sense stimulator for babies, due to its soft texture, contrasting spots, the smell of the natural made rubber, the distinct light squeak it makes and of course its ability to be chewed!New Mom Musts As for me, a quintessential leather maternity jacket, diaper bag or tote, and maternity or post pregnancy tee are essential in my wardrobe! And please, please, please, do not store away or GIVE away your Secret Fit Belly® maternity jeans. They make for a great postpartum pant…you know I still wear mine! Another easy style tip for moms on the go looking for that cool-factor: opt for a sneaker since they have great support for when you are on your feet with the kiddos all day. Choose a slip on or high-top. I live in Converse and Vans on the weekend, as opposed to my running kicks, since they add a little life and coolness to a denim look.  For my night time routine I keep my skin soft and hydrated (check out our beauty products, featuring high end brands, naturally made skincare and amazingly moisturizing ingredients); I also try my best to get some zzz’s when I can. Who am I kidding? I may never have a good night sleep again, but I’m not complaining!  Being a new mom means more to me. -OliviaNew Mom MustsOlivia & Greyson //  Aden + Anais Swaddle // Sophie the Giraffe // Olivia & Greyson // Maternity Sweater // Maternity Leather Jacket // Nursing Bra // Secret Fit Belly® maternity jeans // Naturopathica Beauty Products // Simple Sugars // Diaper Bag // High Top Vans S8 Sneakers // Chanel Sleep Mask
