The Potty Chronicles // It’s All Fun + Games

Potty training has officially stalled… pun intended! Another month has passed and my toddler has decided to use the potty for everything BUT its intended use! He can be found using it as a step stool and as a table for playing games, and especially enjoys jumping off of it and into his bed.1We’ve asked him when he thinks he might be ready and the response is usually a resounding, “NO POTTY.” He’s not quite two and a half yet and although we’d like him to use it, we don’t want to stress him out by being overly pushy. For our next try, we are considering a training pant. How are you making out with your toddler’s potty training? The Potty Chronicles // Ready – Aim – Diaper?

When I started The Potty Chronicles series last month, I really thought we were in the ball park of potty training; unfortunately, my toddler’s willingness to participate has been fleeting.3The Potty ChroniclesIn an attempt at peeking Grey’s interest in using the potty, I tried a few things. First, I abandoned the basic toddler potty that coordinated with my bathroom (the horror!) and opted for one with all the bells and whistles, the Fisher Price Learn-to-Flush Potty. It sings a song, makes a flushing sound… you get the jist. I also bought these Piddlers Toilet Targets at my local Buy Buy Baby during a recent visit in the hopes he’d like taking aim in the potty. Neither has really gotten him interested enough to prompt him to ditch the diaper and use the potty just yet. Since he’s still only a few months into his second birthday, I think I’ll continue trying without pushing him too hard. Wish me luck! The Potty ChroniclesHow long did it take you to potty train your toddler? -Olivia
